Both Pickeringtons should be pretty good. North is probably the favorite but Central has the pieces in place for a nice season.

Moeller will be in the Final Four, let's not get carried away with their schedule. It's good, but they always schedule quite a few automatic w's.

If that happens there is no shame in that. Have to be a darn good team to get to the state final back to back years.

16 districts, 1 from northwest Ohio that plays in a region with 3 NEO districts.

They beat the #2 team in area (Lasalle) 3 times; #1 team in NKY; 3 out of state teams at the winter tournament; and most of the top 10 in the region. But yes, they do have to play X and Elder for those automatic Ws every year...

Who in Cincinnati had a tougher schedule than Moe last year?

I like the Hughes pick, they will be tough this year. Versailles is interesting, yes the ahrens kid is a beast but do they have enough around him. I remember when his brother was a senior they were good but lost to Purcell by like 25 in district finals. Deer Park is also interesting. See if all there new guys can mesh together

The Wellington School, Africentric, and Harvest Prep all were bumped up to D3 because of competitive balance, with the end result being that one of those 3 schools most likely will make the regional in Athens, and will be tabbed as the favorite to win it. The SE district will send 2 teams to the D3 regional, while the East District will send 1. Oak Hill seems to be the prohibitive favorite for 1 of those SE spots, while the other could be Portsmouth, Eastern Pike, Wheelersburg, Paint Valley, or Ironton.

Wellington couldn't beat LE last year and LE will be better this year. Favorite to win it? I don't see it.

The 6 league games are usually tough. Not so much St. X the last couple of years. Kings, Columbus Whitehall, Sycamore, Winton Woods, Western Hills, Lakota West, and Alter. Not saying they don't play some very good people, they will represent SW Ohio in Final Four. I am just stating they do tend to pick and choose tough opponents. Not even being critical. Not going to check everyone's schedule.

You are absolutely right. Moeller basketball is very successful. it is also absolutely unwatchable. Bring on the shot clock. Good grief

That's actually funny and true! If there were ever a time when CK loosened up, I think it would be this year. And it would be amazing. I think there will be a lot of painful to watch games this year- the gap between great and mediocre is larger than you typically find in the area. Interestingly when Moeller is playing the away tournament over break, they do open it up more.

Garfield Heights received a nice present when they got Gaffney from VASJ. They should be able to get to the final four

Division II

There are many good teams in DII that could win the state so I will just list them. VASJ, Akron ST. Vincent - ST. Mary, Columbus Eastmoor Academy, Cincinnati Summit Country Day, and Trot-wood Madison

In DIII

Look out For Harvest Prep, Africentric, and Wellington out of Columbus. All have the same type of style to win.
Cincinnati Purcell Marian has all the pieces to win a title

DIV

It is wide open this year so good luck, too many to name!

What do you guys think?
How are you gonna leave out Wauseon? They’re state runner-ups returning everyone! I’m not from there, but you gotta give credit where credit is due... Columbus Eastmoor has to do what they couldn’t do last year... and that’s to beat them.

Really other than Princeton they didn't skip playing any of the top teams in town. I think it is less "picking and choosing" than there aren't as many tough teams lately. Adding back in some of the GMC teams after the ban was lifted should have strengthened the schedule, too.

Top 5 should be close to this:

1. Moeller
2. Garfield Heights
3. Pick North
4. St. Edward
5. Pick Central

Tough to say after that but the above 5 have pretty loaded rosters with proven talent.

A few other Columbus teams, Princeton, Tol St. John i'm sure will be getting votes.

I do not think Princeton should be in the top 10 in the state until they prove it with some early wins. Very talented roster but unproven at the moment even with Bazley

D3 in NW District....Archbold, Ottawa Glandorf and Upper Sandusky look to all be solid with a shot at all 3 of them getting to the Regional. Looks like the Central District will be sending the 4th team
