Division IV roundtable

Now that powerhouse's Hartley and Alter are gone, who is at the front? Id have to say Big Red is probably the front runner? And before this turns into another CB thread, I'm a fan of Alter and hate to see them move up, but that's where we are right now and have to live with it.

Hubbard should be loaded wherever they fall after a "rebuilding" 8-3 year.

Did anyone from DIII drop down that is worth talking about or move up from DV? Will any of the Cincinnati area schools be any good this season? Indian Hill, Wyoming, Norwood, etc... Then there is still the Clinton Massies and the Steubenvilles that will lead the pack.

Stop. It's ridiculous that you would even bring Hubbard up in this post.

How so? Team returns just about everyone + some new comers. Loaded with speed and Morales could be one of the top RBs in DIV. See spread. Need to get rid of that AAC mentality. Both of our teams had unsuccessful seasons last year. Let's see who improved this season.

Need to add Valley View to the mix, young team last year and a lot coming back, just like Massie.

Should be a easy walk through for Big Red Maybe that's what they wanted to win a State championship

Successful* haha
But look man. I watch the best teams in the state. No one in the aac is competing for a state title. Hubbard will be very good. In the region maybe. Not the state. That's just the difference. Same for my cats. I expect a week 11 game but no way do they win a state title. I just feel like you gotta earn the right to be in these conversations and Hubbard and struthers have not. Yet. Hopefully that changes.

Talent and recruiting has never been Hubbard's problem, coaching and discipline has always been there down fall under Hoffman.

Are you basing that solely on the THREE bye weeks they get in weeks 11, 12 and 13 while every other region is playing playoff football or are there other reasons?

Partially that, yes. For years now I've been saying they have a free pass to the state semis. This year is no different.

In this case thought, it's more of a maloik

In SW Ohio, the Cincinnati teams; IH and Wyoming literally lose everybody and both got pounded by Alter. I think Massie has a cake walk through the region; Although they return a lot, I think Valley View is overrated. They don't play anyone (yes we all know the SWBL is not that good). They won by a point against a horrible Oakwood team in a shootout and Franklin put a running clock on them.

My top 3 is Massie.... then falls off a bit to Valley View, then Fenwick. Not sure if there is a legit sleeper team that could be a factor.

Big Red will probably win state now that there are no Catholic schools that can knock them around.

Any other teams that are legit contenders?

Valley View lost a key DB in Valenti before the oakwood game and 2 key WR/DB during the game in Matheson and Varnadoe! Yes, SWBL was kinda weak last year, but that doesn't mean ! Barring any set backs, massie and valley View should make some noise in the playoffs! IMO!

All these posters picking Big Red just because Hartley and Alter moved up? You've got to do better than that. Can you guys give us more info on them to back up why you picked them?

I can't name a D4 team that had 80 members, during the regular season. Now when it comes playoff time, a lot of schools will dress their Freshman. You of all people should understand that, because most of them played in the 4th quarter.

They do lose a lot of talent, but what they have coming back will keep those hopes alive.

What about

Some school called Youngstown Ursuline. They're pretty good and have a tad bid of tradition. Then there is a school not far away from them named Mooney? Word is they don't suck....

Both schools are natural "powers". But we all know Ursuline has not been up to their standards the last couple of years

Youngstown posters on here know that I root against Ursuline every week and against Mooney every week but one. Fact is, both schools are loaded this year. Ursuline has a bit more skill but Mooney has good size and better coaching. Both schools are better than they have been since probably 2013. It's going to be a big year in Youngstown this year. I would not take Steubenville over either one this year. Trust me, both are loaded this year.

Good to see your positive outlook on Mooney but how can you know so much about the team and so little about the coaching staf. Better coaching? Have you actually seen the Mooney staff in action? Obviously not.

I have seen that group coach

Usually in the state championship game. It's amazing to me how much they have to put up with despite all of their success. They have been to state championship multiple times and have won it at least twice to my recollection. They play a difficult schedule every year and usually come out on top. I don't like them very much but respect is deserved. They are a quality coaching staff. Ursuline on the other hand has not been back to state since L K took over. That one baffles me. Usually they lose games due to ridiculous penalty yardage. Truly they have been very undisciplined.
