Got it Ed. I see the other threads now. Still very confusing.

So...you are now a D1 with +21 competing with schools already bigger, and in the +350 range??? Lol. Good luck with that bruh. Been there done that good riddance.

What a stupid rule. Perry was helped out by being placed in a newly created division which was created because smaller d1 publics couldn't compete with the large metro area schools and private schools. They are then bumped up a division because they have open enrollment which statistically bodes worse than closed enrollment schools.

I understand and agree. Perry is basically in the same place it was 3 years ago. SMH.

It basically puts them near the bottom of the D-1 cutoff, like they were in 2014. Makes no sense. Nothing you can do now, but go compete for the next couple years till the OHSAA takes the "census" again.

I looked at Perry's points and did a hypothetical bracket if they would have been in region 1 of D-1 last year. GlenOak would have been bumped to 9th. Euclid would have played Solon, Perry would have had a rematch with McKinley, St.Eds would have played Jackson and Stow would have played Ignatius.
If Perry would have beat McKinley they would have played the winner of the Jackson vs. St. Eds game. Most likely Ed's. A lot different than playing Franklin Hts. and New Albany, no disrespect to those schools.

They were not bumped up. They would have been D1 if they used old methodology instead of CB formula.

No, Perry was 611 without the CB and would have stayed in D-2 as the cutoff was 617.

I thought the same thing but was corrected in another thread. OldEagle is right. The 617 cutoff is with CB. Take away the adjustments and Perry is the smallest school in D1. No D2 school has a higher base enrollment than Perry at 611.

Talked to a couple people in the know. There won't be room for a practice field behind the new addition.

Whatever happened to the land across the tracks and directly behind the football stadium? I thought that the district owned that land?

According to the Stark County Auditor, Perry Local School District owns a little more than 40 acres across the tracks from the football stadium.

Look for some news on that land coming down the road. I have a feeling there will be ball fields (football, soccer and baseball). Just something I heard.

Anyone know what the jump has done to the kids psychologically? I feel as if it might dishearten some of them, having been the big dogs the past couple years will they embrace the adversity or will they feel cheated and use it as an excuse?

Not too many teams more prepared mentally than the Panthers. No excuses is the MO from the top down.

Actually NP wanted out a year ago, but it was a 4 year deal, but they said they would not renew after the contract was up.

Except for a loss by both teams, I thought the series was very competitive and would have liked to see it continue, but NP had their own scheduling priorities. I wish the Quakers continued success.

Not that it has much to do with football, this is the program going into the new addition to Perry High.

http://www.cantonrep.com/news/201704...ating-to-perry

My Mom had a small part in starting the program at South back in the day. Seems appropriate to be coming to Perry.

I would say a name change is coming to the restaurant/cafe as well. Hopefully success continues for all those involved.

Last year about this time I predicted a RB would be moving in from out of town to help the Panthers. Many scoffed and although he wasn't from out of state, he was from out of the county. Strickland was a difference maker, once eligible. I'll say this, if your a good RB and love to run the ball in this pass Happy spread era, how could you not love the Panthers offense?
I again have my feelers out for any news. Nothing to report at this time, but things usually heat up once May gets here and then the summer months.

Not only that, but if you're a beast player with the right attitude, and if you just love the game and don't want to leave the field, Perry is your place!!
