He led the NBA in uncontested defensive rebounds. A lot of the times he sags off the guy he's guarding, doesn't contest the shot and crashes the board while Kanter and Adams box out the opposing bigs. The entire team's gameplan was designed around getting him to average a triple double.
I said way back in December the triple double is a padded statistic today. The huge number of 3 point attempts creates long rebounds and guards have more rebounds than ever.
My main reason for making Westbrook the MVP is his durability this season. I thought for sure he'd break down over the course of the season. The fact that he averaged a triple double over the course of 82 games is amazing in my mind. And there really isn't another player who would be a slam dunk winner, so i think Westbrook should get it.

From Pinnacle sports....

Looks like slightly under 8-1 to win the east

And 28-1 to win it all

Updated in october

This has Boston at 12-1 for eastern and 50-1 for championship

This was made in June of last year...

Betting the thunder at 300-1 looks like a very good value bet at this point

Yeah I saw that article as well when I was looking. Vegas Insider is great for spreads, use then all the time for the NFL.

Was trying to look for October numbers just prior to the season starting.

12-1 would have been a nice June bet !

I saw anywhere from 18-1 to 28-1 to win the championship. Eastern conference was 5-1 thru 10-1 depending on the Sportsbook around season start time.

20-1 seemed like too favorable betting odds given they were being deemed the 2nd or 3rd best team in the east.

There's 23 players with a triple double this year. Only 11 have been from guards. Ricky Rubio has always been an adept rebounder due to his freakishly long arms (even by NBA standards). I'll agree somewhat, as OKC designed their offense and defense around him getting triple doubles. However, outside of Westbrook and Harden (also had his offense tailored to him getting triple doubles) the case you're seeing more triple doubles is we are getting incredibly gifted passers in the form of big men (Jokic, Cousins, Griffin, etc) and jack of all trades types (like LeBron, Giannis, Durant, Green, etc.).

The series everyone figured would be the most boring has turned out to be the best. Had a blast watching San Antonio and Memphis battle it out last night

That was outstanding watching Kawhi and Conley go at it the last minute in regulation.

Harden hooked Gibson with his off hand while dribbling and immediately goes up for a 3....fouled called. Brilliant.

Go Jazz!

Would love to see a Utah-GS series. Certainly don't care to see a short-handed LAC against them

Nice article from Dion Waiters:

Pretty good reminder that you should hold off on judging people you don't really know

Cannot stand the way Houston plays basketball, but it's mostly the refs/league fault for being dumb enough to allow it to continuously happen. Stop calling the god damn foul when Harden hooks onto the defender after a screen and launches a three. It's effing awful

Looks like the Eastern Conference second round will turn out to be pretty good after all: Celtics vs Wizards should be fantastic and Raptors vs Cavs is a solid rematch.

If the Jazz pull it out tonight we'll be set for an awesome round 2 in every series

Really hoping LAC doesn't win game 7. LAC minus Griffin vs Golden State will be a pointless series

What's the over/under on GS's losses this postseason? 2.5?

Take the over on that. Would probably drop one to Utah on the road and a couple to SA or Houston, plus one or two to Cleveland

I'd take the over too if that was the line. But I could definitely see them heading into the finals with only 1 or 2 losses.

Houston is probably the worse match up for them though. They're such a high variance team because they shoot an ungodly # of threes. All it takes is getting hot for a game or 2 and it's a series.

Big screwup by the schedulers for the NBA. Saturday night, no NBA playoff games?? They'll have 3-4 games one night, yet on a Saturday no games??

It constantly amazes me how consistently dumb you are. Unless the games are fixed, how are the schedulers going to know in advance what series have been completed, what series are still going on, and the days of rest that are mandated for games in a series?

14Red thinks they can just adjust the schedule on the fly.

So you don't jockey the schedule so unless there was 4-5 sweeps, which there wasn't, you make sure someone plays Saturday night??? Poor planning....

Say the Hawks had defeated the Wizards forcing a seventh game. By your logic that game should have been played Saturday night in Washington. It definitely would have been a fun game to watch because it would have been played on ice since the Caps were hosting the Pens that night.

Are you serious? Do you really think that you can just move an NBA game at the last minute? Scheduling of professional sports and arenas is very complex. It's not like little league where you just tell everyone that the game has been moved to tomorrow.

Yeah, let's not reward teams who sweep with extra rest.
