Stafford pointed out that he would like to go to get to the point where they're bringing in smaller recruiting classes.

Is 10 a lot? I don't know, seems like a reasonable number if you build in natural attrition. I would expect you'll lose 3-4 by Senior year for any number of reasons in almost any program.

Division 1 = 14 scholarships to divide, average roster size of 28. I'm not sure that 10 is completely out of line. Surely there are some better informed that can give us some insight.

I like Neil and Nate. They work well together and have revitalized the UC program in the last 3 years. I remember just a few years ago that UC finished last in the Big East and were ranked 227th in the nation. Since then UC has had a winning season every year and in 2015 made the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2002.
Since the local college recruits don't think much of Neil's program he has had to step outside of the tri-state area and entice players from Colorado, Michigan and has a streamline of players from Canada. It has worked and some of the locals have decided to stay home.
I honestly don't care if Neil plays "thugball", parents hate his guts, he misses out on players from Kentucky, wears Jockey underpants, has 30+ players on his roster,(have you ever seen UF's roster 40+). The two thing's Neil should evaluated on is if his players graduate on time and his record.
Well, it looks like he is doing damn good job. His players have 3.5 GPA and he has an overall winning record.

If AD was evaluated on parents/players/fans/administration not liking him, he
would never have the results he has.....even though he is an A55!

UC is lucky to have Neil Stafford he won't be here long!

That was a short tenure. She coached as many games for X as Mal Pugh played for UCLA. That's too bad. It's not good for Xavier. I'd like to see them get on track and have some success.

Everybody loves the hometown team and UC is a joke!
Did you know that UC voted against multiyear scholarships for womens soccer !

That right there tells you everything you need to know about that school and what to expect if you play there.
Coach plans on cutting players as soon as season is over.
whatever happened to loyalty ?

Again, I don't get your cynicism. Before Neil Stanford arrived, UC was ranked around 250 out of 330 D1 schools. For 2016, they finished ranked 75. That doesn't sound like a joke to me.

More important, the overwhelming majority of D1 and D2 scholarships across all sports are renewable each year. This is no different than how academic scholarships are handled. Most of those are renewable as well. Before you bad mouth a program, you should at least get your facts straight.

Sad post from pure class. One would think UC would be more diverse than it is. Head scratcher really.

I don't get your post. Why would one think that UC would be more diverse than what it is? Are you talking about the soccer team?

US soccer is making their teams more diverse, not by choice, best players may not make the cut, skill and understanding of the game is now secondary. Will not be long before we see college teams having to deal with protestors.

Only the racists see it as racist. Speaks volumes about you and whoever else wants to spin it that way. The sport needs diversity, severely lacking in many programs. Instead of doing it the correct way, our beloved institutions panic and make a mess of everything.

What the h are you talking about? US soccer has become almost like a country sport where suburban middle and upper middle class kids dominate because they are the ones that can afford to play for the teams that offer the best training and coaching....This is why the majority of players that reach the collegiate and professional ranks are predominately white.

For the men's side that is starting to change as colleges and pros are looking to the growing influx of Hispanic players from south of the border.

Some of the best players in the world are from Africa and South America, where they don't have economic barriers like in the US. Also, the best pro teams in Europe actively recruit in Africa and South America to bring talented kids into their academy systems.

If anything, US soccer recognizes that the US is disadvantaged when compared to the rest of the world because of our expensive pay-to-play system. Therefore, some form of legitimate out reach to other communities is warranted.

With all that said, your inference that any minority that steps on the pitch is not qualified, is an extremely racist thing to say and comes from a point of sheer, utter ignorance. It's 2017 for God's sake! I thought that we put the point that minorities could compete on the same playing field as white people to bed back in 1947 when Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier.

Economics prove you wrong. Again, you are the racist and the ignorant one. The structure of the sport does not allow many to participate. I will wait patiently for you to apologize.

Can you please review the latest roster for the USWNT and explain your statement from above on diversity, skill and understanding of the game? You can use players names since they won't be reading this to make your case. Can you list your best players that may not make the cut?

There is a "mandate" to make our USWNT more diverse. I have no problem with being diverse, just want the best players, regardless. Top down approaches never work. The sport needs a bottom up fix, however, the issue with that is economic in nature.

Can you please provide us the article, website or just the "mandate" itself that states this fact?
Thank You!

Coaches talked about being more diverse in an article, did not save it. All we need to do is have three National Teams. Black, Hispanic and White. Even Harvard is now having a Black only graduation, but I will be considered racist for suggesting it, Harvard will be applauded. US women's soccer will crash and burn. Political Correctness will see to that.
