Enrollment and division classifications

The new numbers should be coming out soon.

Does anyone see any key changes in divisions?

Franklin, Carroll to D1 ?, Roger Bacon, Northridge to D2 ? , Dayton Christian to D4 ? They are all right on the border.

Does the transfer penalty apply this year?

I believe numbers are only being released for fall sports.

I could be wrong though.

I know it's fall, but here is just an idea of what to expect today.

It should be fair to think that if a football team gets moved around, the other sports may be moved around also. Not 100% correlated though.

All the other sports have fewer divisions which means more teams per division. That would make it harder for a team that moves up in football to move up in another sport.

BUT....the multipliers in the sports other than football is greater too. So a handful of kids that are move-ins would impact the count greater in sports other than football.

FYI...the fall sports divisions with CB adjustments is out. That could give you an idea of how things might shape up.

Fall sport numbers are out. There is a different multiplier for basketball than football/soccer and different kids on rosters but it gives you a general indication of the direction of schools:

Roger Bacon - Both football and soccer bumped a division
Carroll - Bumped in football and soccer
Alter - Bumped in football
Troy Christian - Bumped in football
VASJ - Bumped in soccer
CJ - Bumped in football

June 6th is when basketball numbers are released and there will be more changes than I first thought there would be

Troy Christian is a weird name on that list. This is not good for them at all I think.

My guess is TC stays D4 in basketball. They will have maybe 2-3 kids that are multiplied in basketball. The other SW schools have a good chance to move up I think.

It does stick out. They graduated a ton in football and will be very young. D6 is going to be very tough in football in this area. It will be interesting to see how they divide up the regions. Heck, Coldwater is now in D6 for football?

Based on the final pre-competitive balance numbers TC would be 15-ish boys away from D3. Every tier 2 kid is +5 so just a couple could move them close. It will be interesting to see in June.

I guess you are right. I didn't realize they were that close to the cutoff. And I don't know what is coming in from the 8th grade either that could be additional multipliers.

I did some figuring and was trying to figure in the schools that don't have football and the schools that are members but don't play in the boys ohsaa basketball tournaments, here's what I come up with , let's see how close I come the divisions when they come out in June.
D-4 0-123. 200 schools
D-3 124-218. 198 schools
D-2. 219-387. 200schools
D-1. 388-and up 201schools

If that is accurate VASJ will stay in D3.

I think those cutoffs are too high. The cutoffs last time were
D1 340+
D2 185-339
D3 109-184
D4 0-108

Here is how much cutoffs for football were moved up in football:
D1: 36
D2: 29
D3: 19
D4: 24
D5: 19
D6: 14
D7: went from 99 on down to 113 on down.

If that is accurate or even close, I would be cool with that!
