FYI, those who don't already know, OHSAA has a streaming update for the games. Good way to follow if you aren't there or by a radio.

Click on Scoreboard, then scroll down to your game and select "Live Stats".

My, from Cleveland to Cincinnati, God has surely blessed the "catholic" athletes. If I did not like Moeller's style, and their region, so much, I would be pulling for Jackson.

I wondered if I was the only one that thought this. They passed up some pretty open 3's.

They didnt make a 3 pointer for the first 28 minutes of the game- they were gun-shy from what I could see.

I thought the McGarry kid played particularly well. Happy for him and all of his McGarry and Burkett relatives.

The boy's got heart and bleeds Red and Blue. By the way, he could be a Jesuit next year...Yikes!

Congrats to the Vikings, consistently a winner. Roger Bacon shot 56% from the free throw line. Present day basketball seems to ignore this aspect of the game, and it always comes back to bite you.

I agree 100%. I am not saying Wauseon would've/could've won AT ALL but going 4-13 from the line doesn't help ...and 23 turnovers kills to.

Ok Jackson, make it 4 for 4 NE Ohio. And to shut up my fellow public school whiners too I guess.

I was whipped after driving home last night from the game and what a game it was. That is what a championship game should be. In Roger Bacon the Vikings found a team that was a carbon copy of themselves. The game for the most part was a one or two possession contest throughout. Both teams left everything on the floor and showed why they are two of the elite programs in Ohio.

As a Viking fan I was surprised at some of the early turnovers and lack of rebounding - but Bacon had a lot to do with that. They played very good defense and crashed the boards very well. Early on the Vikings were getting beat the same way they beat others. Both squads showed amazing grit. I thought the small run VASJ went on in the final minutes of the first half was HUGE. The Vikings had to feel pretty good about themselves knowing they played a bit sloppy and missed some opportunities and still went into the locker room up 1. I thought the refs did a good job with the exception of calling a foul on the wrong player and not reversing it. The player called Jerry Higgins was nowhere near the foul - it was Terrance Lawler. Luckily it did not come back to haunt us.

The second half was much better from an execution stand point for both teams. I was really surprised that Bacon did not shoot the three. They shot it good in warm ups yet seemed afraid to shoot jump shots in game situations - let alone 3s. The 3 ball erased a small Bacon lead as Butler and Newlon hit some gigantic shots. The big play seemed to be McGarry taking a charge causing #22 to foul out. That kid was nails in the paint and his loss really hurt Bacon. The Vikings then struck Roger with a inbound play very reminiscent of the one Beachwood hit us with - except we made the layup. That was a back breaker. The Vikings pushed the lead to 8 and needed every one of those points as Bacon decided it needed points quick and shot the three ball. They hit two desperation type rushed 3s to really close the gap. They just ran out of time as McGarry just had to hold the ball while inbounding as time ran out.

After having a son on last years team I know how hard these kids worked to get back and atone for that stinging loss. I know it ment the world to my son to be on the coaching staff this year and to be able to celebrate with the kids that promised to bring the trophy back to 185th and Lakeshore. There was a great turn out from Viking Village at the Varsity Club as well as at the arena. The Varsity Club was a melting pot where fans from Jackson, Bacon, Joe's, Ed's and others all celebrated and talked hoops. I met some really nice people from several schools.

Congrats to our boys on showing the toughness needed to beat a very good team when they did not play their best. I really feel that being in tight games against tough teams in the regular season helped the Vikings in learning how to close out and win games like this. Finally an AWESOME job by the whole coaching staff for the job they have done the last 5 years in doing something no team has EVER done. The Vikings are going to be very big and talented next season - can we make it to state for a 6th straight year and go for #8 ? I'm sure they are going to try like hell. Yeah Joe's.

That was the kind of game you hope to see for a state championship. Congrats to VASJ on the great run and another title.
