Yes! If you don't have a pre sale ticket, you'll have to be there by the time the JV start or you will be turned away. Last year there were tons that were turned away!

Wayne/Springfield games always sell out regardless of where the game is played. I suggest get there at 4:30.

I went to Wayne HS today for a ticket only to find out they don't sale pre-game tickets for home or away games...found that unusual. Has it always been like that? Is Springfield's gym good sized? Any know how or getting tickets before Friday? I've got 10$ for you if you can haha

Smith getting his 2nd and 3rd fouls in the 3rd was a killer for Wayne. Springfield ended the quarter on a huge run with him out (was 35-34 when he got his 3rd) And Wayne was never able to claw back. Springfield was the better team tonight. Can't wait to see the rematch at Wayne. I've never seen SF play before and was VERY impressed esp. their 6'7 Junior...he can stroke and great on the glass

And it was a packed house, people turned away starting about halftime of the JV game (which Wayne won by I think 8). Awesome atmosphere. Can't think of a bigger rivalry in the Dayton area right now. Hopefully Cats don't have a letdown tomorrow - Flyin' to the Hoop hasn't been kind to the Cats over the years.
As for the game, I'll let Vamps do his thing. Cats led most of the game, the final being the largest margin. Mike McKay led Cats with 20, Leonard Taylor added 17 and Danny Davis added 15, finishing the game with a dunk at the buzzer that brought the student body to the floor. Blue Smith led all scorers with 22. Quisenberry had a strong debut with 13. I'm interested to see how many minutes he played (seemed like it was only about half the game). Wayne will really benefit when he rolls into the starting rotation.

Game 12
Wayne 9-2 @ Springfield 9-1
Sold out Springfield gym tonight as usual for when these teams meet up. This was a very exhausting game to watch I do not know how either of these teams will have anything left for Saturday's FTTH games....
No games notes as we were cramped in like sardines but it was a back and forth first qtr. Smith made himself known early as he netted 8 in the opening qtr but Springfield's McKay one did him by putting in 9. Wayne led 10-9 in the game but Springfield scored the next 7 before Wayne ended the qtr with back to back baskets. Springfield 16 Wayne 14 after 1.
Springfield opened up a 9 point lead in the 2nd qtr and it was raining threes for the Wildcats as Wallace made two and Davis and Taylor also added a three. Wayne would struggle all night from beyond the arc even though Quisenberry was able to deliver from 3 as he scored 7 in the qtr. What Wayne was able to do was drive and draw fouls which they made 7 of 8 free throws in the qtr to cut into Springfield's lead. Halftime, Springfield 32 Wayne 30.
3rd qtr was Smith dominating early scoring two quick baskets to give Wayne a 34-32 lead. As quickly as Smith scored he also picked up 2 quick fouls putting him on the bench with 3. This was huge turning point in the game as Wayne had no one who could match up with the 6'7" Taylor who took advantage of the situation. Davis also picked up his 3rd foul for Springfield but he did return later in the qtr to help the Cats go on a 12-0 run. Wayne would not score a point in the remainder of the qtr going over 7 minutes without a point and trailed 44-34 after 3.
Wayne cut into Springfield's lead early in the 4th with Smith back in the game but blew several chances to close within 1 by missing 4 straight free throws. Wayne could never get it under 5 as Springfield pulled away to a 67-55 win as Davis slams it down at the buzzer. Wayne just could not get the 3 ball to fall tonight and I am not sure the exact number they attempted (close to 20) but they only made 2. I would not call this an upset as I would of had Springfield favorite at home. This sets up an interesting rematch when Springfield returns the visit to Wayne later on in the season...
HH Wayne 14 16 04 21 - 55
Springfield 16 16 12 23 - 67
Scoring- Wayne- Smith 22, Parker 13, Quisenberry 12, Fointno 4, Trice 2, McKee 2; Springfield- McKay 20, Taylor 18, Davis 13, Wallace 9, Toliver 4, Rodgers 3
==============================
JV action, Wayne JV pulled out a 53-46 win....

I agree 100%, when it comes to rivalry nothing is bigger than Wayne/Springfield around here and there is no gym in the GWOC louder than that of Springfield. Great atmosphere and great game (though it would of been better if Wayne could of hit a few more 3's to make it interesting) for the most part and cannot wait for the rematch. Springfield is only 1 of 2 teams that has EVER beaten Wayne in Wayne's current gym so Wayne winning the rematch is not a given but I like the chances!!!!!
Best of luck to Springfield as always tomorrow and the rest of the season (minus 1).....

Last 6 points for HP were dunks, each better than the last. The first a windmill dunk, followed by a 360 and capped with one between the legs finished with a thunderous windmill. Wish I had video taped them.
Wayne hung tough for most of the first half, but then HP switched to a matchup zone and that gave Wayne fits the rest of the game. Wayne will be fine. Quisenberry will help this team get better (especially beyond the arc) - they're still a force in the GWOC and will be a threat in the tourney.
Wasn't planning to go tomorrow, but I may have to go watch Prolific Prep vs. Huntington Prep, may be highlight after highlight in that one.

Such a frustrating game tonight as a Wayne fan. So many missed free throws and chances to take the lead or tie

Game 14
Free throws, Free throws, Free throws.... well, this game came down to free throws and Wayne buried themselves missing 13 in the game and 6 in the pivotal 4th qtr. Meanwhile, Springboro made their last 5 including the game winner as C. James converts on both free throws with seconds left giving Springboro a 60-59 win over Wayne.
Something happened to Wayne midway thru the game at Meadowdale and they have not been the same since. It was all Springboro to start this game and they did damage from beyond the arc. Tabor drilled one followed by Varinsky and then another Varinsky basket and it was 10-0 Springboro. Wayne could not do much right but finally a James steal led to a basket but Tabor drilled another 3 to put Boro up 17-5. Pluta added a basket at the end of the qtr and it was all Springboro 21-7. Tabor had 9 for Boro in the qtr.
Wayne finally got a three to go down and it was Trice hitting to cut the lead down to 10. Palma came off the bench to bank one on for Wayne and then Quisenberry would also drain a 3 and following 2 made free throws by McKee Wayne was within 6 at 25-19. Springboro had an answer and it was Varinski drilling a 3 to put the Panthers up by 9. Wayne got it down to just 8 at the break. Springboro 31 Wayne 23.
Trice heated up drilling back to back threes for Wayne to start the 3rd and it was 31-29. Fointno got it down to 1 with a 3, 33-32 Boro but Boro would go off on a 6-0 run to get it back up by 7. Wayne would once again claw back with a McKee basket and a Hampton steal and basket got it down to 1 again. Springboro answered with a Pluta basket and a Tabor 3 but Fointno drilled a 3 at the buzzer for Wayne.... 44-41 Springboro after 3.
Wayne was finally able to tie the game in the 4th following a Smith 3 and a Trice basket to make it 46 but Kelley came off the bench for back to back layups to put Boro back up by 4. The 4th qtr was a battle and full of miss opportunities for Wayne as they missed 6 free throws. Each time Springboro got a lead Wayne would battle back until finally they got over the hump with a Quisenberry steal and basket giving Wayne their first lead in the game 59-58 with 20 seconds left. With time running out C. James made a baseline move but missed the shot with seconds left but a foul was called. He calmly made both to put the Panthers back up by 1. Wayne was able to get the ball up court but a short jumper bounced out and Springboro escaped with a 60-59 upset win at Wayne....
Springboro 21 10 13 16 - 60
HH Wayne 07 16 18 18 - 59
Scoring: Wayne- Smith 14, Quisenberry 12, Trice 12, Fointno 6, Palma 6, McKee 4, Hampton 3, James 2. Boro- C. James 15, Tabor 14, Varinsky 12, Pluta 7, Kelley 6, Arrington 4, Weidman 2.
This was a costly loss for Wayne giving them now 3 league losses. Wayne had a made free throw taken away because of a violation which also cost them a 2nd attempt. 13 miss free throws with 6 of them coming in the 4th will cost a team many games. Wayne will travel to Cincinnati to take on Middletown Saturday night at Woodward High School.
================
Wayne JV defeated Springboro 59-51

Is it just me or does it seam like free throws are becoming a lost art? Lately over the last 3 years at least it seams like OVERALL its getting worse and worse. Missing 13 by Wayne and 12 by Sidney is sad costing both teams wins
