OHSAA is NOT going to a wrestleback format as long as they are running it so everyone can get over it. Team Sports in general are all 1 loss and you're out in a playoff format.

If they incur less of a loss this year than I think OHSAA will keep making tweaks to try and get closer to $0 loss.

The participation numbers in all 3 divisions are VERY high. Close to 90%.

Coaches know going in if their team has a shot of winning a match or not. Trust me coaches know their personnel and most know the other teams wrestlers and they know if they're going to get blown out.

If I was OHSAA, I'd consider lowering that pay out a bit. I don't think they will profit off of this event, but with a little tweak in pay for the sites and possibly more restrictions on entry requirements, they could get close. errrrr.
I was mistaken it's $230 per dual at your site not $250.

Out of that $230 it pays for the following:
Facility Rental
Custodial
Ticket Takers
Ticket Sellers
Scorekeeper
Site Manager
Timer
Admin
Doctor
Trainer
Security

So for example OHSAA a doctor makes $20 out of the $230 and you multiply that by the number of duals in the event. ($20 x 10 duals= $200)

Individual sites have the ability to determine what they're going to pay each particular worker but OHSAA just gives a Flat Fee per dual which in this case is $230.

The last financial report was 692k in revenue with an expenditure of 510k. A major component of that is site rental. It's known that OSU is cutting them a deal considering the size and amenities of their facilities in return for multiple uses/events that could be held elsewhere. That's beneficial to both sides IMO.

OHSAA can't justify moving duals to the Schott for 5k fans. Tickets would be $20 bucks higher at least to help offset the increase in venue.

Forgot about the doctor. That fee is probably just about right. I saw many kids and parents working tables. I doubt they were getting paid or very much. Who knows though.

Where are these numbers coming from? You sure thatís not Individual & Team State combined? Or possibly just individual state #s?

My understanding was Team State was losing about 100k past few years.

OHSAA has a page on their site that lists their financial reports. The latest was 16-17. I would imagine it is both combined. They don't have any separation listed. It's just under tournament revenue and expenditures, wrestling. They are losing money on the duals. Part of the reason for 1 day regionals. Nothing I saw, states how much.

Here is the financial information for wrestling as reported at OHSAA BOD meeting this summer, https://ohsaa.org/Portals/0/Board-of...S-8-9-2018.pdf

I'm confused with exactly how the numbers are calculated but DT wrestling has taken a loss every year.

The coin toss will be huge. I expect to see bumping on both sides.

Bonus points will determine the winner. LaSalle must win 4 of the first 5 with bonus in 3 of the 4 wins.

These numbers are different than what I thought had been released previously and yeah I can't figure out their calculations.

That said, the key point is this event has taken a loss every year of its existence, though the magnitude of financial loss has been reined in over the years.

Borofan hit the nail with the bonus pts @160 & 170. 182# was unexpected. Tuff pill to swallow but Mailman, ya got the split. State tournament will be interesting endgame to this 3 picture movie deal.

Doesn't matter, loss is still a loss. That was the best shot for a cincy team to take home the state dual title and the Lancers came up a little short. Sizemore match surprised me, that was the upset that sealed the deal. I don't see any cincy team challenging for awhile as LaSalle loses some great seniors this year. Lets see if they can bring home the title in March.

Not so sure it was and an upset, Hightower could be wrestling for a title in march.

Surprised Skinner didn't try for bonus points.

Norris elected not to wrestle Agin in a much anticipated match. who wins in March?

great night of wrestling props to all teams

Now if this was at Wadsworth I would be home at 6pm not midnight.

Hightower gets it done when it counts. You may say it was unexpected but history was on Hightower's side. Ed's didn't give LaSalle any points for free and that is the savvy kind of coaching that keeps that team on top of the podium. Hudson isnt the first Hightower to be underestimated or maligned on these forums. I wish my brother had 3 state championships. Ed's has the pedigree and it shows this time of year.

I hate Ed's but in order to be the man, you have got to beat the man!

LaSalle has a lot of talent, don't count them out. Eds loses four seniors who did very well, it just depend on who fills those spots better. I'm looking forward to some great matches over the years with LaSalle.
