The Reds need some veteran leadership for their young pitchers. Homer is not the guy to do it.

Doesn’t really sound like Harvey is that kind of guy, but maybe the new setting humbled him.

In Harvey's first start he routinely pitched at 92-93 and hit 96 on occasion. Last night he was at 96 most of the night. That's a nice progression yet he has yet to hit 98 (where he was prior to the injuries). If he gets to the point where he can touch 98 when needed, his value will be much higher.

3 starts in and he looks good.

The Reds have been extremely conservative with Harvey. First two games they had a pretty hard and fast number in terms of pitch count. For a guy like him, building confidence is probably a good portion of the battle. No doubt being in New York under the microscope can be difficult.

I like the Adam Duvall story, part time outfielder turns slugger, makes the all star game, is in the home run derby. But he simply cannot put the bat on the ball enough. He's a good defensive out fielder, so if you want to make him a late game defensive replacement in left field, I"m good with that.
Can you please explain these posts, that occurred on the SAME PAGE of this thread?? So we need more home runs, but you want to bench our leading HR hitter? Do you have multiple personalities?

Duvall is a .240 to .250 hitter with 32 HR and 101 RBI PER SEASON the last 2 seasons. he needs to start and get max ABs, except for needed rest days. period.

Hamilton remains the guy to bench.

As for Harvey leadership role...

Maybe he will change but he was an immense ego and a very "me-first" kind of guy with the Mets. I wouldn't bank on that changing.

Yeah, I’d bet on Duvall reverting to his mean and you can’t bench him and play Hamilton, that’s rertarded.

I'm saying if you are going to play home games in a home run hitters park, you need to build your team accordingly. Our corner outfielders must be home run hitters. The longer I see Winker, they less I like him. Yes, he gets on base, but he can't run and he can't score unless he's forced in. He's barely a serviceable outfielder.
We are nearling a year now with Duvall batting under .220. But the worst is he strikes out SO much. I'm just ready to move on from him, the only saving grace is he's very cheap now.
I simply cannot continue this discussion on Billy. His defense is the best single attribute of any outfielder we have. We don't have another centerfielder . Schebler can play there in a pinch, but he's not an everyday centerfielder. It's obvious most on here do not value defense, in a defensive oriented game. The catcher AND the centerfielder HAVE to be above average defensively. It would be nice if the shortstop and 2nd basemen were good defensively, but not as critical as the front and backside.

Today's Reds news, Tyler Rainey and Michael Lorenzen activated, Austin Brice and Rasiel Iglesias go to the DL.
Iglesias goes to the DL with soreness in his left bicep. He throws right handed.

It's gotten to the point with Homer where nearly every media member I wondering how the Reds can justify keeping him in the rotation when they have options. Move him to the bullpen and if he doesn't like it, guess he can walk away. Not sure anyone would be stepping in his way.
