I don't know if it got settled, but Landen Duncan was looking for a team to practice with as Southington Chalker doesn't have a wrestling team. Last I heard, they had committed to supporting him competing for the school, but he needed a school that would allow him to practice with them.

Is it just me or are the numbers down for St Eds and Graham this year. I know SPG may not be the national power anymore as they were under the Jordan era, but in most years I thought each of these traditional powers had four or five on the list of JH placers. I don't follow the JH much so I may be wrong.

On SPG, typically a top 5 national power, slid to #37 on Intermat's top 50. And this year's squad features only #12 Alek Martin, 138, on Flo's PS rankings. They likely won't make Intermat's top 50 this year.

It will be intersting to see how many kids that SPG continues to get out of the Dayton area. I think that Legacy and LaSalle will draw those kids over SPG.

Looking at the list, this group is really spread out. No teams jump out. Not sure what Lasalle has in the pipeline the next few years. Legacy Christian has a few kids that that are very slowly making their way through middle school in the next couple of years. It will be interesting to see if Desales gets a bump with Palmer. Doesn’t look like it from this group of 8th graders but who knows. In the Cleveland area Ed’s doesn’t get a lot of help from this class. Aurora is shut out after multiple champs/placers - not sure what’s in their cupboard. Is this what parity looks like? Is this an anomaly? Is it wrestling season yet??

I have said this before but just in case you missed it. The "studs" are not in this class. The 7th and 8th graders (coming next year an after) have some serious depth. Nobody in the greater Cleveland area (as far as I know) has a "stud" coming in. Good wrestlers maybe but not impact wrestlers.

I can't speak for SPG but on the greater Cleveland scene if you didn't get a huge transfer you didn't get a stud that will be an impact.

I took my son to Jordanís camp a few weeks ago. I ask him how the team would be this year. He said better then last years team. He said in two years they should be wrestling for National title. I said really? He said yeah they will be that good. Be one of the top 3-4 teams SpG has had.

He may not be the head coach anymore but is still super involved with the Sp kids and team. At least it looked that way.

In my preliminary rankings, I have Graham as a pretty decent favorite to win D2. I didn’t receive a projected lineup for them, so I may have guys at the wrong weight, which could make the team race look a little different.

Do you consider Summit County as Greater Cleveland area?

A part of the NE Ohio "hot bed" for wrestling, YES! But not part of the greater Cleveland area.

i have to disagree with you. I see quite a few studs on that list - kyle snider at the top of the list! i donít know what you consider impact wrestlers but thereís an awful lot of them going to be in good starting lineups next year. Also quite a few Fargo wrestlers on the list, too.

Absolutelyóand this list does not include several studs that have or will be held back. DyVaire VanDyke, Dillon Campbell, Ethan Birden and Julian Griffith come to mind.....I would argue this batch of 8th graders and kids held back is waaaaay better than 7th grade class. And I have a 7th grader.....

Again if you read what I wrote. NO studs in greater Cleveland. Hold backs are what they are. Snider is going to CVCA not in greater Cleveland. I'm not here to argue just read what is written. Greater Cleveland!

A pretty decent favorite to win D2 is a far cry from being a nationally elite team, which they've been in many/most of the Jordan era years.

No way they'll be wrestling for a national title in two years. They have one guy ranked right now at #12, and they have no one coming in this year (current JH placers). Are they going to be that good with a bunch of freshmen in two years? I'm not buying it. And I've been a SPG fan (not affiliated with the program) for a long time. Eds has done a great job of transitioning from one great coach to another, altho I think Ferguson was their best. Other programs haven't been able to do that (Maple Heights & Walsh Jesuit, for example). I think SPG, sadly, will fall into the latter category.

Not often we agree but I think I agree with everything you said in this post. I am not of fan of where kids are ranked. HS for for sure. A lot has to do with FS results or the name across the chest.

Nick Moore should be ranked. He has a win over Beau Bartlett (Yes, I know it was a wild match). SPG has a junior high State Champ coming in at 132, Nick Hart. He had a pretty good spring in freestyle, beating D1 state placer Uliano from Olentangy Liberty and a couple other state-level wrestlers.

I missed Hart. Still, sounds like the best OH D2 school, not a nationally elite team. Perhaps they have one of their best group of 7th graders (and 8th grade repeats) in the pipeline. Time will tell.

Both Aurora and Louisville will be the real deal next season. If SPG tops both those teams I think they're pretty damn close to being considered elite.

Yeah It’s hard not to Rank them #1 in D-2 and Jordan did say the Graham team should and would be better then this pass team. They must have something coming for him to think in 2 years they should be contending for a national title

I think they have more then any of us know about. Time will tell.
