Our guys looked really good last night/this morning.

Mark Hall is the best in the world here and is the favorite. He can take down everyone and his scrambling ability is senior-level good already.

Mitch McKee really surprised me. Won three really close matches at the buzzer (11-9, 11-9, and the 16-14 one was crazy). His head pinch is great and although I think the Russian will beat him, I didn't think McKee was gonna make it this far, so maybe he will pull this out.

Kollin Moore ran into a buzzsaw in the Georgian (who looks a little old for Juniors, just saying). Actually got the first takedown but couldn't defend the guy; will wrestle for 3rd against the German, where I think he has a shot to win.

Malik Heinselman did pretty much what I expected; he isn't quite on medal level internationally. Pulled out a good win in his first match then was outmatched the next match and didn't get pulled back in. Good experience for Heinselman and glad he won a match finally in his 3rd world championship.

Overall we went 11-2 today, which is better than I expected. Hope we can pull out three wins here in the next 1-2 hours. Would be a good start before the quartet of Fix-Deakin-Valencia-Steveson tomorrow.

Depends on what the team does tomorrow. The 2014 team was loaded: Joey McKenna and Aaron Pico won silver medals, while Thomas Gilman, Gabe Dean, Kyle Snyder, and Adam Coon took bronze medals (Moody lost in the bronze medal match while Anthony Valencia went 2-1). If Gable/Fix make the finals and Zahid medals (assuming Moore wins today) then there is a case.

Also, three years later, half of those wrestlers have finished top 3 and made a World Team (Pico, Gilman, Snyder, and Coon). Pretty impressive

As long as he wasn't born earlier than 1997, then he is eligible for UWW Juniors this year.

Mark Hall goes cement mixer and gets the pin in 43 seconds to win gold! On to the senior level for Baybee Marky

McKee got pinned in a minute and will take silver.

Moore up in 2 matches

Dumb seeding/bracketing, everyone knew the real final was Hall versus the Russian who took Bronze at the Yarygin. That Russian who destroyed McKee was flat out impressive.

Is there evidence that he's older than he says he is? I'm neither a PSU fan nor a Mark Hall fan, but until there's anything more than speculation, I have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Assuming he was held back a year, then he still he could have been born 1997. Are you saying he was held back two years?

If you're just waking up, you missed a lot. USA went 14-0 LAST NIGHT AND HAS ALL FOUR WRESTLERS IN THE FINALS!!! Fix, Deakin, Valencia, and Gable all going for gold today. What a day for the USA.

Man that trap arm gut Fix has is something else, completely dominated the returning world champ in round 2. Honest question, when was the last time Gable Steveson lost? 2 cadet world champs and now in the finals in his first year of Juniors.

OK, now can we say it? Seven medals (vs. 6 in 2014) and who knows how many golds. One gold so far and a good bet to get two today (Fix and Gable).

Fix TF'ed his way to the finals, not giving up a point in any match.

He lost the state championship match as an 8th grader in 2014; I'm pretty sure that's his last loss, domestic or international. Hope they get him a couple matches on the senior level soon.

If the US wins 2 finals tonight they win the team title for I believe the first time ever in Junior freestyle. Would be a great close to the last two days and a great start to the week.

If they win the team title, it would be the first time since 1984, according to themat.com. Anyone wanna do some digging and find out who was on the team that year?

I can tell you we had 7 champs: Chris Bolin (48kg), Ken Chertow (56kg), John Fisher (60kg), Len Bernstein (65kg), Chris Geneser (75kg), John Ginther (81kg), and Jeff Ellis (87kg).

I see. Your message that I originally quoted only mentioned McKee, Hall, and being too old for Juniors, so I took it out of context.
