OHSAA Rules on HS Soccer, Club and College visits camps etc.

What is the driving thought or purpose behind the rules prohibiting HS soccer players from participating in club activities (of any kind) college ID camps or college recruiting activities? It appears to be driving a lot of the top players to forgo High School athletics, which i see as a bad thing.

That's a great question. Is OHSAA trying to protect something? Do they think NCAA recruiting rules are lacking?

Is it a sport other than soccer driving the rule?

Obviously all I have are more questions....

If you can figure out OHSAA, you get a gold star.

NFHS and the state organizations have hindered athletics for long enough. Either get in the business of athletics, or get out. Preferably...get out. Or, just regulate intramurals at the high school level so the focus can be on academics.

I don't know if it's a bad thing. I'm 50/50 on it.

I do know that it seems to be happening more and more.
