2018 Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC)

I was 100% spot on last year and will be again this year, Whitmer is clearly the team to beat. When you go superstar at QB and RB and DE you should be the favorite and they will be. 15-0 should be the Panther goal

Whitmer returns 5 on offense and 4 on defense and have to replace their best kicker in program history (3 year starter) and 2 year punter who will be at UT next year.

Central returns 8 on offense including 4 offensive linemen, QB, and 3 of the league's top WR's. The Irish return 6 on defense and return the best punter in the state who also just so happens to be the best return man in the state.

Advantage CCHS.

I know Saint John’s loses Gant, but I seem to recall when the played Avon that most of their playmakers were young. Will they be a playoff team in 2018?

SJ loses three offensive linemen, 2 of which are heading to FBS and their TE, a WR, and main ball carrier and FB.

They will return their freshman QB (Lichtenberg 6'1 175), RB who saw a lot of action as a back-up (Valentine 5'9 165), two soph. WRs (Mitsoplous 5'10 170 and Swift 6' 165) as well as two offensive linemen (Businger 6'1 265 and Toerne 6'4 285).

On Defense they will return 2 Dlinemen (Nicholson 6'2 275 & Hillsheim 6'1 225), 1 LB (Turner 5'8 180), and 3 DB's (Mitsopolous 5'10 170, Dzerwia 5'9 170, and Batch 6'3 175).

SJ always has the talent to compete.

Thanks! Great info! How about Ross and Clay? Im always interested in who Avon might see in the R6 playoffs.

Ross returns Hayden Lehmann at QB. The Little Giants should be as good or better than 2017.

Clay has 6 returning on offense and 3 returning on defense.

Clay offense returns their skill guys (QB Wamer - 5'10 170, RB Miller 5'9 170, WR Reddick 6' 150, WR Novak 6'2 180, WR Winkowski 5'10 150) but only one offensive lineman (Cathers 6'1 220).

On defense they return one starter on dline (Nagy 6'1 215), lose all of their linebackers, and return two corners (Rendon 6'2 175 & Ummel 6'1 165).

Ross has 7 on offense coming back and 5 on defense.

Ross returns their talented strong armed QB in Hayden Lehman (6'2 200). The Little Giants were a RB by committee last year and return one of those committeemen in Chumley (5'11 220). Ross returns two starters at WR in Hotz (5'10 170) and McKinstry (6'4 190) and three offensive linemen in Burling (6' 250), Harder (5'10 270), and Thomas (5'10 265).

Most all of the Little Giants went both ways so they do return Burling on the dline as well as Dontrez Brown (6'1 220) but their strength will be returning two three year starters in Schneider and Wood (both 6'1 205) at linebacker. Both kids can really play. Defensive back wise they lose all but Hotz at corner.

Great homework, nice recap, disagree with assessment. CCHS loses its best pair of DL in program history, a shutdown corner and a stud LB. Id rather go to battle with a college QB and college DE any day.

Yet the rich get richer. SJ's top dlineman from last season, Dylan Hillshiem, transferred to CCHS as a senior no less. Although the loss of Kimble and Craig certainly hurts, having the transfer Hillshiem and the transfer Penrod at DE's will soften that blow. With the talent assembled on Cherry St. anything short of a state title should be a disappointment.

Graduate transfer.

So this obviously wasn't for athletic reasons. Can only hope nothing tragic happened in the young man's life, that caused a change from private to private.

TCC is back in D2/R6 again. Now I have to keep an eye on them, Ross, Clay and SJJ from the TRAC...but especially TCC. I would have made Avon the heavy favorite to in the region, but now TCC must be considered a co-favorite, based on tradition, coaching and personnel.

Ryan Kersey? Young man killed today in accident on I-75, would be about the right age to be the kid that played RB for the Titans? Kersey's are Oregon kids, right? Anyone know?

I know the young man well, coached him and he was one of the best kids I ever coached. Tough as nails and did everything you'd ask. St. Francis' all time leading rusher. Oregon kid from a really great family. Ryan leaves behind two young children.

Shame. RIP.

Don't know why I was thinking he was a Johnnie and his brother a Frannie. I knew they were from just over the border.

Very much a shame and condolences, I know you feel it. R.I.P.

IB: on the UT board, someone posted there is a gofundme but no link. I can't find it with google. You know?

From the report, I get what is going to be said, it was his fault. But I recall a thread on Yappi where I was a lone wolf, a chastized lone wolf for denouncing these truckers that live in the center lane. They are unexpected and dangerous. Don't belong there on a three lane, too dangerous for faster traffic having to move to the right and left then merge against each other once they have passed. Particularly in Michigan where the semis are supposed to be going 10mph slower than auto traffic. smh

I'll find out about the gofundme.

A slow truck kills the flow of traffic. With that said, I will not blame truckers. With that said, in today's age of Uber, and cell phones, and Lyft, PLEASE do not drive drunk. I've seen far too many talented lives end way too short and so many more folks adversely affected due to those ended lives. It is painful and VERY avoidable. Do not drive drunk.

The team with the better QB usually wins this league. Whitmer won last year with its superstar QB. He returns, so look for them to repeat as TRAC champs.

I'm hoping there's some young guns in the halls at Central Catholic to spark a QB battle. Would love to see Bowen at QB, all he does is make plays, plus has the arm as a former ND baseball commit.

CCHS has yet another monster out of conference schedule. Great for the program & its fans.

Wk 1 - vs Bishop Hartley
Wk 2 - vs Timber Creek (New Jersey powerhouse)
Wk 3 - at Detroit Catholic Central

Few can touch their overall roster, especially a closed enrollment public, but Avon vs TCC would be a monster playoff game.

Can anyone in the TRAC this year, other than Whitmer, realistically beat them? Do they have a great chance to run the table, or is Whitmer too much for them? I don't see Hartley or the NJ team beating them, but how is Detroit CC this year? At best, I see TCC as 10-0 and the #1 seed in D2/R6. At worst, I see 8-2 and probably a home game in the first round of the playoffs, but I hope it's not a #4 seed, because I do see Avon at 10-0 as the #1 if TCC does not go at least 9-1...and I would like to not see the Irish until a regional final.

Whitmer will be the favorite to win TRAC. Only TCC will give them a battle. As usual both of these programs are miles and miles ahead of the rest of the league. Realistically, anything short of a state title will be a disappointment for each. Of course their surrogates here are never going to admit that but we all see the writing on the walls...

DCC is always tough to gauge because they are that uber large traditional Catholic where seniors get the benefit of the doubt in playing. They have 30+ seniors and 35+ juniors every year and still will only dress a handful of sophomores. To put things in perspective a bit, last year the Shamrock's big OT (one of them at least), senior Nick Carey (6'7 290), did not start as a junior. He signed with UT after this season and held multiple offers. Not only would he have started at every program in NWOhio he would have done so since his sophomore season and been all-league every year.

With that said DCC lost some really key folks (3 year starters at RB/LB/FB/DE).

TCC will be fairly loaded. On defense they have the Athens transfer Penrod (6'1" 260), Jackson (6' 300), and the SJ transfer Hillshiem (6'1 230) at DL, three year starter Justin Sheits (6' 225) at LB along with the Perrysburg transfer Lowery (6'1 205) and Crowell (6' 205), and all of their talented DB's (Swain, Griffin, Dailey [transfer], Parker).

On offense they return their QB Troy Durden (6'3 205), RB Jonzell Norrills (SJ's Cheatham's younger brother), Copeland (6'3 230 HB), Bowen (6' 180 MSU commit WR), Griffin (6'3 190 WR), and three olinemen in Klemper (6'4 270, Cannon 6'3 265, and Montoya 6'1 300 not to mention some younger talent waiting in the wings like Sennett 6'5 270 soph.).

Am told they are going to some sort of triple option threat but with the talent they have at WR they will be able to catch defense's sleeping and toss balls over the top. Bowen is the most special kid in the area. He is the top returning punter in the area as well.

On a side note, very cool seeing SJ grad Dallas Gant getting substantial reps in yesterday's Ohio State Spring game. Coach Meyer spoke extremely high of Gant.

Central Catholic is getting new turf and a new track surface for the upcoming season.

The present field turf is 12 years old and turf life is typically 8-10 years so this was due. Now they need a video replay jumbotron.

Keith, I stood on Ross' turf two years ago and was amazed at how it held up. CCHS and Whitmer's before they replaced theirs in 2015, is/was in bad shape. Whitmer went with a new ProTurf this time around and obviously the technology has improved since Ross/CC/Whitmer all had turf installed 2005-2007.

Keith I heard Fremont is going to build the new school where the current track sits. Can you confirm if that is true?
