Of the Teams currently ahead of the Bengals only the Colts and Ravens would need a RB.

It honestly didn't occur to me, but they do need a RB.

Mixon was too good a value to pass on.

It might just be me, but I don't believe Mixon is a risk off the field. He's been clean at OU since the incident, and when the incident occurred, he was barely 18. That doesn't excuse it, but if we're judging him on his actions moving forward, there's no reason to believe he's a lose cannon like Pacman or Burfict. I believe from a football perspective, it's a bad pick.

Saw this posted on FB in response to the Bengals' drafting Mixon: "Not the role models we want for our children." Look, if your kid's role models are athletes, then you're a failure as a parent. Society needs to stop trying to force these guys to be role models, it's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

From a football perspective, it was a great pick. The Bengals legit added two top 10-15 players talent wise from the draft.

Yeah, kids don't look up to athletes at all, you're exhibit A on how much such an obsession is harmful. Look, the FB post is right, he's a terrible role model and kids will ALWAYS look up to athletes. But he has the opportunity to live with this and make it right every day. He should start by donating a sizable chunk of his signing bonus to an abused women shelter and be an ever present advocate for the issue.

What good does that do w/ an awful OL? Can't do much when you're getting hit behind the LOS on every carry.

Yeah, but I never viewed the athletes as role models, at least not outside the spectrum of sports. And your suggesting is so transparent, it does more harm than good.

Again, I don't think this guy is really an off field risk like Chris Henry, Pacman, or Burfict. This one incident happened 3 yrs ago when he was 18.

The OL will be fine. Front 7 will no longer be able to fill the box and rush the passer with more weapons that can stretch the field. The Bengals will add depth and new guys will step up.

Your whole world is sports. Anyway most normal boys do in fact look up to athletes.

They weren't "fine" last year and they lost their two best players. Hill and Bernard aren't at the talent level of Mixon, but they're good enough where they'd be more than avg behind a decent OL.

They should look up to athletes as far as modeling their game, but if you worry your kid will grow up beating women b/c he was a Joe Mixon fan, then you failed as a parent. This is a business like anything else, grow up and raise your kids.

Kids look up to athletes, always will pboy. Just like the vast majority of men mate with a woman. You may not like it, but that's the way it is.

They didn't suck running behind a semi decent OL. Unless you're Barry Sanders, you won't have much of a career getting hit behind the LOS every carry.

Hill sucked two years in a row. Gio is a change of pace back, who can't carry a full load.

And it's a parent's job to put that idolization in perspective. If you're not up to the task, don't have kids. Pretty simple. I'm actually almost glad they drafted him just to piss off these , self righteous parents. This is a business, that's about wins and losses, everything else means dik.

Yeah, tell boys not to like athletes, while the parents cheer their azzes off every Sunday for them, okay.

And again, if you're son grows up thinking it's ok to hit girls, it's your fault, not Joe Mixon's.

Okay. Still makes Mixon a bad role model. Not sure how that's even debatable.

Willis more complete all-around but Tim Williams is definitely a better pure rusher which is what I think they needed. Not a bad pick though

Have 9 picks left they need to package some and move up. They don't have that much roster space available

Interesting stat on Barry Sanders.....

He leads the NFL in getting tackled for a loss, (over 300 times) for nearly 1,000 yards.....

He was a great back, no doubt about that, but years ago when I was talking to one of his OL for a number of years he did mention that although he was a great back it was frustrating that so many times he ignored where the hole was/supposed to be and did his own thing. Sometimes it worked out glorified by many of his highlight reel runs, but often times his disregard for where he was supposed to run lead to him getting tackled for a loss way too often.

Totally agree. They should have moved up already for at least one more 2nd or 3rd rounder.
