I’m just worried that if it’s raining Friday night, Kenton’s passing game will be limited.

I was surprised that St. Mary's struggled so much vs. Shawnee. However will go with Roughriders 21 - 14.

70-29 St. Marys.

Sharp goes down in 3rd quarter and Riders outscore them 41-7 in second half.

93.1 was talking about the SM/Kenton game and blowout.
They mentioned something that maybe happened in their JH matchup that maybe led to SM running that score to 70?

Can anyone elaborate?

Not sure about the JH game, but Kenton ran up the score as often as they could on everyone for a lot of years. National passing yardage records when 8 of their 10 games were over at halftime? I know it's not the same coach, but they would do the same thing today if they had an opportunity. I loved seeing the 'Riders hang 70 on them.

Yeah, I am well versed in the type of sportsmanship, or lackthereof, from the Kenton program.

It was just something that I believe I heard on the scoreboard show on the radio when they were marveling at what happened with the score. I want to say they got a text or tweeter from a fan describing it and it didn't surprise me one bit.

Still not very clear. When I was at the game, I was sitting under the press box and the Kenton coaches in the booth were talking about how his eye is the source of the concussion. Sharp sat on the bench the entire 2nd half and needed to be escorted when he got up. If Sharp is ok, Kenton should run through the rest of their games but if heís not Kentonís backup QB Jacob Eversole is pretty decent and Kenton would still win most of the rest of their games.

Kenton’s front-7 was decent at stopping St. Marys running attack but if the Roughriders could find the edge and miss Kenton’s front-7 completely then it would be all but over which is what they did most of the second half and that’s how they made it to 70. Another note is that Sharp also plays defense so that was a key lose for them as well.

Week 6 Final Scores
Wapak 49, Bath 7
Defiance 28, Celina 14
St Marys 63, Elida 13
Van Wert 60, Kenton 33
Shawnee 21, Ottawa-Glandorf 7

Standings
1. St Marys - 6-0 (5-0)
2. Wapak - 5-1 (4-1)
3. Defiance - 4-2 (3-2)
3. Celina - 4-2 (3-2)
3. Van Wert - 4-2 (3-2)
3. Kenton - 3-3 (3-2)
7. Elida - 2-4 (2-3)
8. Shawnee - 2-4 (1-4)
8. Ottawa-Glandorf - 2-4 (1-4)
10. Bath - 0-6 (0-5)

Surprised by the Defiance-Celina and VW-Kenton games. The WBL has some good depth this year, but may make it difficult to get multiple teams into playoffs. The Wapak-Kenton game from a few weeks ago really puzzles me. Is the Wapak offense really that bad? Did they just catch Kenton early on in the season when they were in their stride? Giving up 130 points in the past 2 games is a lot. Dang, interesting season in the WBL so far.

Huge win for Van Wert and Nate Place deserves a great amount of respect as a top QB in the league. The WBL is very tough, but the two teams I am struggling with are Kenton and Celina. Seems like they are unbeatable one week and the next week they get beat up. It could just be the parity in the league. Fun scores to watch as only one team hasn't posted a conference win yet.

Agreed, cknights. Van Wert and Defiance have been pleasant surprises. Really competitive year. Celina and Kenton with some head scratchers, but the games are still there for each to make playoffs.

Week 7 Games
Elida (2-4) @ Van Wert (4-2)
Kenton (3-3) @ Shawnee (2-4)
O-G (2-4) @ Defiance (4-2)
St Marys (6-0) @ Bath (0-6)

Van Wert - 100 combined points might be possible!
Kenton - Wildcats get back on track
Defiance - Why is O-g as down as they are?
St Marys - Hide the children
Wapakoneta - Wapak by 2 scores

As far as Kenton's defense...Is saw them in week 1 and it was a typical Kenton defense, but their special teams really hurt them in allowing CW to get the ball deep in Kenton territory twice.

It did appear though once they got down their defense started to hang their heads and......give up. I didn't seem much fight in them which to a coach has to be disheartening.

Was surprised by the Celina loss as well. I know their opponent is better this year but the Dawgs seem to recently lose 1 game per season that is a head scratcher and it really cost them.

The Blue-Green Algae Bowl will be a must win for Celina but with how well the Riders are playing it appears they will run the table and go 15-0

St. Marys
Celina

Van Wert, Wapak, St Marys, Celina, Kenton, and Defiance are all pushing for playoff births. I have to think that these teams start to play with some major fight in them. Celina is in a must win situation so I give them the nod this week over the favored Wapakoneta team.

I'd say, for playoffs, WBL teams are:

Lock - St Marys
Good Shape - Van Wert, Wapak
Likely - Kenton
Tough Path - Celina, Defiance
  • SM is obviously in and is among the favorites in DIV.
  • Van Wert probably has their toughest games behind them with losses only to SM and Wapak. VW is favored in all of their remaining games, though have notable showdowns with Celina and Defiance to end the season.
  • Wapak might be a lock? They're favored in all remaining games except St Marys. Celina and Defiance are certainly no pushovers and 7-3/6-4 might not be good enough.
  • Kenton is probably IN as they have the easiest remaining schedule as none of their remaining opponents have a winning record. Though, Kenton is currently 3-3 and has been inconsistent. They should win-out and might even have a rematch with St Marys in the playoffs.
  • Celina needs to win 3 of their remaining 4 which includes Wapak, SM, and Van Wert. Certainly doable, but definitely a tough path. Will depend which Celina team shows up.
  • Defiance is projected to finish 5-5 with tough games remaining. Their tight loss to Elida may come back to haunt them even if they can pull an upset off against Wapak or VW.

It's certainly also possible that these teams could knock each other out given how this season has gone so far. Lots of football still left to be played.

Wapak (too bad Trotwood is in their region)
Kenton (still putting up numbers)
Elida (down season for both teams)

Blue Green Algae Bowl this week wont be close. St Marys has been rolling right along...BUT it would salvage the disappointing season for the Dawgs.

Shutout city this week in the WBL. Only surprising stat is Kenton. Are they dealing with injuries? Surprised with that score given their playoff potential going into that game.

Wapak 42, Defiance 0
Shawnee 21, Elida 14
Ottawa-Glandorf 31, Kenton 0

Standings

1. St Marys - 8-0 (7-0)
2. Wapak - 7-1 (6-1)
3. Van Wert - 6-2 (5-2)
4. Kenton - 4-4 (4-3)

5. Defiance - 4-4 (3-4)
5. Celina - 4-4 (3-4)
5. Ottawa-Glandorf - 4-4 (3-4)
