You are right Stewart was faster. Remember Goody returned kickoffs with Stewart. I think Goody is a better target, bigger, and has better hands that Stewart. Goody may not be as fast but I think he is a more effective runner, he just has an apptitude for it.

More honors for Mr. Osterbrock...

Trio of Bearcats Named To ABCA All-Region Teams

This kid is good. If he stays injury free, he'll get a shot at the show.

Congrats Dan on the accolades. You represent Colerain superbly.

Good post CF....I looked at the stats and found he gave up 10 runs in his first two games then figured something out. He then pitched 20.1 innings without an earned run. He cut his walks. And finished strong.

Go get em next season Dan.

Cobrani Mixon is tranferring to Kent St. I don't have a link but there was a blurb in The Enquirer about it.

From the Enquirer HS Sports blog. Congrats to Dom! Good luck at Eastern Michigan.

Colerain football RB commits

Colerain football RB Dominique Sherrer has given an oral commitment to Eastern Michigan, Colerain coach Tom Bolden says.

The 5-10, 195-pound Sherrer is the brother of former Colerain RB Terrence Sherrer, who signed with the U. of Minnesota two seasons ago.

Dom Sherrer is scheduled to be one of Colerain's primary rushers this year. He averaged 17 .8 yards a carry and totaled 3 TDs last year in limited duty (eight carries, 142 yards) as he waited his turn behind some seniors. He also caught 3 passes for 89 yards (29.7 per catch).

Congrats to Dom. That is a credit to the Colerain program that a RB that is yet to play a down as a starting running back for Colerain is accepting an offer for college football. I think Sherrer will have an outstanding year and take his place in a great line of outstanding running backs.

Bad news on Mister. He should've just went to UC to begin with. We all knew he was gonna be buried on the scUM depth chart and never play.

Yeah, this sucks to hear. If he works hard though I think he'll still be a big contributer down in Clifton.

Also, I've been browsing almost every OSU football site I can find and cannot seem to find Clifford listed on the roster. Anyone know what's up with that?

It lists other freshman, such as Spencer Smith...

Per Josh K.'s Blog

UPDATE (11:07 p.m.): Forgot to mention this. UC added four walk-ons today.

Calvin Dixon, LB, No. 48 (from Colerain HS)

Hopefully Calvin can make it and be a contributor for the bearcats. If anyone can do it its him. He definetely has the heart and determination to make up for his lack of size. Everyone thought Byrd was too small and look what he's doing.

Nice...

Bearcat will sit opener for violation

I'm beginning to think that Dominick Goodman is the only good apple to have come out of the class of '05.

Yes. Many times.

But I also was never on full-scholarship for athletics in a BCS conference and named 1st Team Big East as a Sophomore and spotlighted in Sports Illustrated as an "impact player" for my team.

Sorry. He has higher standards than Joe student, whether he likes it or not. Clearly it wasn't because he was sick or had a funeral to go to. My guess is he just felt like skipping class. Poor decision making and horrible leadership the week leading up to the home opener. He's weakend his team considerably with his poor choice.

So it's ok to cut class as long as you don't play football?

You are killing me man. Absolutely killing me!!

Stop speaking in absolutes. No, it's not ok to cut class. However, HE IS HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD THAN I WAS! That's just fact. If I chose to sleep in and miss that 8:00 AM Business Law class, that's on me. He chose to skip a class and now an entire team is weakend because he is going to be sitting on the sideline with helmet in hand.

He knew the rules.
He broke the rules.
He, the team and the university is now going to pay for it.

It's that simple.

It may also cost him a lot of $$. He was listed by one publication as a likely junior entry in the NFL draft. A game against a directional school would have given him a chance to pad his stats because they won't have anyone who could of blocked him.

I would rather talk about absolutes than wide generalities like you do. You condemned the whole 2005 class except Dom Goodman for the actions of a few and for all we know Terrill had good reasons for missing class. Some coaches sit players for missing practice or class whether the act was excused or not because it is a team rule. The XU basketball team under Prosser had a rule that if you don't practice the day before the game you don't play no matter what the reason.

Bull-poop gocards. Bull-poop.

Going into this season, Byrd had started every game since the day he set foot on campus. Per the UC game notes, that's 24 straight and tied with Nakamura for most consecutive on the team. He is a stalwart on the D-Line and the biggest name PERIOD on that side of the ball. He single-handedly changes what offenses can do...we both know this because we saw it live for 2 straight season.

Kelly knows how important it is to have his best players playing. There is a tremendous pressure to win and sitting your 1st teamer isn't the way to go about doing it.

So, that leads me to conclude, maybe incorrectly, that the reason for him skipping class was, more than likely, NOT a good reason but something stupid. Thank God it's SE Missouri state or whoever it is because if it was a Big East game, it WOULD have an impact on the outcome and might possibly cost this team a W.

He's cleaned it up and it's part of the maturing process. That's all that matters.

Do you really think that Dominic Goodman is the only good apple to come out of the class of 2005? That's an awful lot of bad apples.

Yeah Mister has had his issues and Byrd cut a class at UC. Clearly there's only one good apple from that class, and it's Goodman

which begs the question "Why would you begin to think that because one kid cut a class?" which you (CF) know very little about in the first place? I think you just want to argue just to argue.

The Colerain players who played last night for UC didn't exactly look spectacular. Goody had a drop or 2 and ended up with only 1 catch for 0 yards. Revels played ok but dropped as easy an INT opportunity as I've ever seen, this coming about 5 minutes after my brother told me that Dre was a good LB in highschool but had the worst hands ever and dropped several INTs when he played for Colerain.

Revels Int opportunity came on a batted ball. Not the easiest opportunity I ever saw.
