Nothing official, but I've heard it was back over 200.

I heard Seton is around 160. Good news for them. 200 in purple would be a good number.

200+ now, hopefully it gets up to 220 when all students make their final decision. Basically, last week was the early signing period, I think the deadline for everyone is around March.

Wait, so freshmen enrollment has been under 200 as of late? Apparently I live under a rock. Knew it was down but figured like 220-230 range, maybe 210 at the lowest. Sheesh.

Which is totally unacceptable. I'm still not very happy they didn't directly address the issue with the Alumni/Parents. Obviously, this spurred the decision to take vouchers, but own up to your failures, and tell us your plans on what you're going to do to make sure it doesn't happen again. Don't try to sweep it under the rug to protect people.

I knew it was under 200, are you sure it was only 146? Thought it was closer to 180.

The weekly report on McAuley's website from Tom Otten's committee stated this about enrollment:
The registration period for current freshmen, sophomores and juniors for Mercy McAuley will continue until Thursday, February 15. Those who registered early (by January 31) will receive a voucher for a free uniform skirt. We’re very excited that to date, 551 current students have registered for the 2018-19 school year. Add that to the current incoming freshman class, which now totals 132, and we are already at a total student body of 683. With two weeks remaining in the registration period for current students, this number will continue to increase.
I also know that Mount Notre Dame has closed their freshman class at 180 and, according to their website, have established a waiting list.

It looks like they are losing about 200 students (I am sure all Mercy girls). Half of those are likely going to Seton.

The eventual, ongoing projection may be the freshman enrollment x 4? About 530? Seton's may be 600 using that method?

Backtracking, there were 3 who Shadowed at Taylor. 2 of the 3 will almost certainly end up at Elder and probably just shadowed to get s day off school, the other one is going to Taylor, not a huge loss.

I heard differently...just this morning from someone who is intimately involved. 2 of the 3 have committed to Taylor....one is still on the fence. I would also argue that both boys are big losses. One in baseball/basketball/football and the other in basketball/golf. If the 3rd commits it will be a huge loss in football and to some extent basketball.
At the end of the day any student from a feeder school that doesn't choose Elder is a huge loss regardless of athletics. More importantly, I hope this doesn't become a pattern in subsequent years. I know Ruffing called each family personally as 2 of these kids are "legacy" names as it relates to Elder.

I'm sure there is more to the story why these kids are not going to Elder and its good to hear the Ruffing is involved with the families. There should be more of that on a consistent basis by more than just the principle to assure our potential kids get to price hill. All three families would be a loss IMO.

Wonder if the non-legacy families are getting personal phone calls. Hopefully.

I agree on that part. However, Elder can't lose good feeder athletes to fuggin Taylor. That's shameful. This was supposed to be a loaded class, but losing one of those kids would be huge for football.

Some probably are. But the kids in question are part of your "It Crowd" that supposedly get special treatment. One kid's dad is a frickin coach.

Rest assured, if they go to Elder, they will have their place on any team they want.
Likely several factors, cost being one, and playing time being another for a couple of them. There are some really good 8th graders coming in the door.
Playing time and free at Taylor.
Watch from the bench and $12,000 at Elder.
Makes sense to take a look.
