Elder Fans

Stop making excuses for mediocre results. If you care about the school, you'd stop accepting this level of output and start pushing for more. A clear message needs to be sent that this garbage won't be tolerated. It's time to push to market for better athletes. Feeder kids aren't good enough anymore. Your son/grandson/nephew doesn't have the speed to compete at a high level, deal with it. All that matters is winning. If winning isn't your top priority, root for another school, take that wussy crap elsewhere.

trey2k is an unknown quantity at this point
Agree and disagree. The kids are the same as the kids that made the school successful years ago. What's changed is the landscape that Elder is very slow to react to.

Start there.

Good idea starting a brand new thread just for this since it's never been discussed before in any of the other Elder threads!

It would've been split off into its own thread eventually. And ppl need to speak up. A friggin 1 pt Qtr is unacceptable. Being consistently mediocre, is unacceptable. Success from 20+ yrs ago doesn't mean anything today. Elder needs to step it up, bc last night was an embarrassment.

This thread. Maybe Pboy and trey should find new teams/schools to root for. Maybe we should make a poll. Pboy makes it about 18 months between complete meltdowns, gotta be a new record.

It hasn't been all bad. Just recently they had a run of 3 good seasons in a row.

I think that is going to be what you will get without recruiting. Some good years, some mediocre years, some bad years. At least they are not as bad as St. Xavier right now. Moeller and Lasalle clearly are doing a good job of recruiting. I guess they could put more emphasis into AAU and start building better teams there to feed into the high school.

Recruiting is such a vague, over used excuse. No, they shouldn't be comping tuition for kids just bc they're athletes. However, they need to market to non feeders. Catholic feeder kids aren't getting it done and won't get it done moving forward.

And X will kick the crap out of them on Friday.

A flashy billboard sign or cool commercial is not going to get a star basketball player come to Elder.

No, but just getting them to do a shadow day will help.

I think most people out here think Elder should be marketing to schools that are not traditional feeders in order to boost enrollment generally. If the efforts attract a good basketball player or wrestler or a couple of good football players every year, all the better, even if no one in such a kid's family has any connection to Elder.
