Does anyone have any open spots on their team on Sunday? I have several wrestlers interested in wrestling at the duals on Sunday, all OAC state placers.

I have wrestlers looking to get on a team at 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 85, 110

Post here or PM me. Thanks.

I have a 90 lb wrestler that would be interested in wrestling at the duals as well if anyone is interested or has a spot.

I know from the beginning of this tournament changes were made to make it more inclusive to all types of wrestlers (community div, club div, extra weight classes, A & B at certain weights,.....). I recall this tournament having 6-8 "club" and 6-8 "community" teams each year. I also understand that only one community team was interested in participating last year (please correct if I am mistaken). Is dual tournament style wrestling on the out for youth community teams ??? If so, why?

Well with regards to this tournament, it became more of a mercenary club tournament so it was silly to spend that kind of money and to bring a roster with 50% 1-2 year experienced wrestlers. So I think most community teams have decided to not attend it anymore. The talent level over the past few years has been VERY high and that out paced anything any average or even good community teams could handle.

5-7 years ago it use to have almost all community teams and they were all very good community teams. Even then teams would try and sneak ringers on to their teams, anything for a win I guess.

Totally agree, a couple years ago we took a very good community team to this tournament and we probably only won two or three matches all day. It does show the "community kids" what the next step up looks like.....as long as they're mentally strong enough to take the pounding.

Was there the last couple years with North Akron and the quality of wrestling was top notch.

It would be interesting to see a community and club team separation but that would probably generate so much more interest that it would turn it into a 2 day tournament.

I agree with the quality of wrestling and the next level. They used to run one club team tournament in one gym and a community tournament in another.....one day tournament. I will assume that the interest from community teams waned and when they combine the two, the community teams took their licks. I always liked the dual team format as an alternative to the weekly packed gym.....Is what it is.

Scheduling is the biggest issue. A lot of kids will be at the duals in Ft. Wayne. Pick a better weekend.

Weigh in times?

Does anyone know when weigh in times are on Saturday? Can wrestlers weigh in without the team?

There were some good kids there, Nolan Gessler is always fun to watch! Lighter weight there was some little dudes getting after it. The upper weights 100lbs weight class was pretty good matches as well!!

This is the first time wrestling these super duals in about 5 years, and I have to say it was a little disappointing only seeing 6 teams there! The Clubs that were there are some of Ohio's best though. Last time we were apart of the super duals I'd say there was between 15-20 teams competing, does anyone know what has happenedt to make it a less popular tournament???

A) Scheduling. A lot going on this past weekend including the big national duals in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

B) The community clubs got tired of serving their kids up to get slaughtered by the all star club teams. Very tough to balance local clubs & all star clubs at the same dual event.
