I have liked Walsh's team all year, but this is where their season ends IMO. Midview has too much on offense, through the air and ground, for the Warriors. Their weakness on D is against the pass, which I don't think Walsh Jesuit can do well enough to keep up with Midview's point production.

What type of offense does Midview run? Is it a spread?

Seriously, a team can be named in the same breath as Nordonia

#1 Midview (10-0, 6-0 WSC) vs. #8 Walsh Jesuit (7-3, 4-1 NCL)

Midview’s DJ Shaw (Ashland ’09) is in his first year leading the Middies. Shaw, an Algebra teacher at MHS, has a 10-0 career coaching record. Walsh Jesuit’s Gerry Rardin is in his 35th year with the Warriors and has over 250 wins. He is a Spanish teacher at WJ.

This is the first time that the Middies and Warriors will ever meet on the gridiron.

Midview is making its seventh overall OHSAA playoff appearance and first since 2012. The Middies, who also appeared in 1998-99, 2002-03 and 2007, are 1-6 all-time in playoff games. Midview’s only OHSAA playoff victory is 27-12 over Revere in the 1998 DII Regional Quarterfinal. Walsh Jesuits is making its 27th OHSAA playoff appearance and first since 2011. The Warriors, who are 24-15 all-time, finished state runner-up in 1998 and won the Division II State Championship in 1999.

Midview can put a lot of points, and will be favored, but also give up almost 23 ppg.

If Walsh can avoid costly mistakes they can make this a tight game.

Best of luck to both teams.

Go Warriors!

Sounds like Walsh needs to ground and pound and eat up clock to have a chance.

Midview doesn't have to throw. They have a very good 250 pound RB and a big QB who runs a lot and is very quick.

I'm interested to watch this game. It sounds like it is a contrast of styles.

Almost like a Big Ten team (Walsh) against a Pac 12 team (Midview)

I was impressed with the Qb's arm for Midview. I'm hoping for a close game.

Found this interesting: Per Fantastic50.net, this is the closest #8 vs #1 match-up

DII Region 4: #1 Midview by 6 (63%) vs #8 Walsh Jesuit

Midview's offensive line

Any Middies on here have physical stats on their O-line.

They look big!

You forget another similarity: Both the NCL and B1G are full of teams with great football tradition but that are going through down cycles. However unlike the B1G, there's at least one member of the NCL that has a legitimate shot at winning a title this year.

Bennies has a great team. I saw it 1st hand. But you're not winning a title with that QB.

I have watched a lot of high school football over the years and during the 2014 season. Midview is a Powerhouse Team. They have an offensive line that averages 300 pounds across the board of which the two tackles go 365 each. Most teams have one or two good wide receivers. Midview has 4 that are fast and make circus catches. So they love to spread the Field. Four Wide outs, Five Wide outs and their Quarterback puts the ball right on the numbers every time. I seen him throw at least 5 touchdowns this year that were 50 yards in the air on a line. Now when the weather gets bad this type of offense would stall, but not Midview. They have a 250 pound running back that can run the old fashion 4-5 yards a carry and just abuse defenses. On any other team this guy would be gaining 200 yards a game. Big, Fast, and Tough! Midviews defense was a little suspect early in the year, but after week 5 it all came together and they fly to the ball and gang tackle. They scored 83 points against Rocky River and against Avon they won by a touchdown, but it should have been more as they gave the Eagles 14 points off mistakes. After watching film on Walsh the only chance they have is if Midview gets to cocky and makes mistakes. But Walsh will need at LEAST 4 turnovers to stay in the game. Look for Midview to win this one by 3 touchdowns.

So Midview didn't cash in on any Avon mistakes in the game? That's pretty much how they got the last two TD's. Midview is very good, and should win this one by at least two TD's.

His description of Midview is pretty accurate, actually, but they can be beat.

You're right. Walsh shouldn't even make the trip up there. Midview is too big, too strong and too fast!!

Any of these kids from Midview getting any looks for the next level?

This should be a better game than people think. Walsh will play them tough and hopefully control the clock. As a walsh fan I know firsthand a huge OLine doesn't always translate into wins. I'm the 2000s walsh had two years the line averaged 285 or more and all 5 guys went to play at the next level (two big 10 and one acc), yet they only made it as far as the regional final.

I'm interested to see how walsh fans will travel. I'm expecting midview to pack the home stadium. It will be tough for walsh fans to pick between this game and the girls soccer state championship friday (if the girls win tonight).
