This is some pretty interesting information. 3 Indiana schools, 2 of which we have never played before -wow!!! May have to look into that Penn/Mishawaka game...

Although you are probably the most objective poster on Yappi.....I still would like to know your support for that prediction.

The biggest challenge last year's team faced was QB and oline play. The defense played well with the exception of the second half of the Elder game and the Colerain playoff game.

Same QB
Same oline minus a three year starter (Mohn)
WR missing the top two receivers in terms of catches but think they have depth
RB who will replace Chris Payne
Dline - must replace all three starters
LB - must replace two starters (but good experience returning in Taylor and O'Malley)
Secondar - replace two starters.

I get the sense the GCL will be a toss up with each team facing big question marks.

The real question is how the team will stack up against some of the new teams on the schedule along with traditional powers like Colerain and Ignatius.

I don't see 10-0 unless the schedule is very weak. More likely 7-3

Former Brownsburg QB Hunter Johnson was ESPN #1 rated QB in the class of 2017. He transferred from Clemson to Northwestern when classmate Trevor Lawrence won the job who then led the Tigers to the national championship.
Johnson sat out this past season and has 3 years eligibility remaining

Much to my dismay Ballaban Field will be used for Moeller's opener

Per StX website
August 30 – Brownsburg (Ind.) – “Cincy-Indy Football Challenge” at Ballaban Field. St. X will also host Moeller vs. Cathedral on August 31.

Thank you to the St. Xavier administration for allowing the Fighting Crusaders to use your field for our opener. It is much appreciated. GBM

And thank you to Moeller for putting your home game against X at X's second favorite field.

Heard from several Hoban fans that Alabama commit Caden Clark and star two-way player DeaMonte Trayanum could take their talents to St. X to win state in Division 1. Does anyone have any word on that?

I have heard some people talk about this and the people seemed to be convinced, but this would be the third transfer from Clark. Also being his senior year, I find it highly unlikely but would be awesome to incorporate a big TE into the game!

Pretty bold prediction for Week 5... this game is always a good game because of the passion between the two teams. Talent wise it sounds like X has the edge. I also don't think the coaching will be an issue for them, but that is just my opinion.

I don't really think that prediction is far fetched. Nauman is not a proven head coach and Specht is. I think that is what it comes down to. Also X likes to get their receivers the ball in space and I just don't Kelley, Scally, Braley, and new safety Casselman making those open field tackles.

You made some good points. Moe has some good receivers (Valentine getting some Big 10 and SEC offers) but i think the DBs like Hundley will shut them down.

Is the “challenge” just 2 games or are there more games than just X and Moe?

Here is reality when it comes to 40 yr dash times. Hand times are misleading. The laser doesn't lie. To get a true picture of what a kid actually ran on a stop watch add .25. 4.5 = 4.75

Your cartesian coordinate system will require some adjustment for this year’s Bomber team so that your Y coordinates include integer values well below the 4.75 threshold

Here's a summary of returnees with starting experience* or with some experience from being in the rotation. Starters: 4 on offense and 5 on defense

OLine
Schwitzgebel* (NEO Lakes district 2nd team, current offers by Ivies [Yale & Princeton] and several MAC schools)
Georges*
O. Keane

Wide Receivers
Cmiel* (NEO Lakes district 2nd team, current offers by several MAC schools)

Tight End
Lang*
Daugstrup* (injured in ’18; started as a sophomore; ranked 3 star by Rivals; current offers by Georgia Tech, Pitt, Iowa State and several MAC schools)

Running Back
Welsch (split time as the featured RB in '18)

Quarterback
Hanna (limited playing time and experience, athletic with a strong arm)

DLine
Gerace* (DE)

Linebackers
McNamara* (baseball commit to Kent State)
Francz*

DBacks
Cmiel*
Welsch* (NEO Lakes district honorable mention)

Special teams
DeVengencie (Punt and Kick returner; DB or WR role for next season)

Kickers
McConnville
Mangan (current sophomore)

Current sophomores (appears not to be a strong class) – those on the ’18 varsity roster
Adler (DE) – gained some varsity playing experience during last season
Hubbard (LB)
Conway (LB)
Simcak (RB)

Current freshmen class is talented, 9-0 during the ’18 season. Expect a good number to be on the ’19 varsity roster
