Northwest Ohio Athletic League 2018-2019

2017-2018 Results

Wauseon 22 - 0 7 - 0
Archbold 18 - 3 6 - 1
Evergreen 12 - 10 5 - 2
Bryan 12 - 10 4 - 3
Delta 7 - 14 3 - 4
Patrick Henry 9 - 13 2 - 5
Swanton 6 - 16 1 - 6
Liberty Center 3 - 19 0 - 7

A lot of changes at the top due to graduation and retirement.

Is Evergreen going to step up?

Should be an interesting year with some key faces from last year gone. Maybe it will be more balanced. Evergreen should be better, but keep in mind they did lose to both Delta and Swanton in non-league games last year. They started out the season very slowly but did come on strong in the last half.
But it will probably be Archbold or Wauseon. One of them has won at least a share of every title since 2009-2010. Only Bryan and Swanton added a shared title in that span.

You need to "do some more homework" LC won the title outright in 2011-12, Bryan won it outright in both 2012-13 and 2013-14, Patrick Henry won it outright in 2016-17 season.

ILikeSports, point taken, your right, I overlooked the sport, "my bad" as my kids were fond of saying. I thought my search function was only directed to one sport. My apologies!

Interesting season ahead as I think Wauseon and Archbold have come back to the pack. Wauseon will have the best backcourt in Armstrong and Seiler but what will they get from the others stepping into new roles??? You can't replace 6'9 and controlling the paint so it will be more difficult for the Indians this year. Archbold lost a legend in Krauss as well as a very good Sr. Class but they do have some talent back. The Streaks will rely heavily on Williams and Ramos early on until they can develop some depth.
The Most talented team in the league is Evergreen but the problem here is that there aren't enough basketballs on the court. If they can learn to play together and play defense then the Vikings should win the league. Bryan is a wild card as is Swanton in my opinion...hard to tell about Delta, LC, and PH.

Should be a fun year with a lot of evenly matched contests.

Wow, thought Bryan at 3-1 had to be a mistake until I looked to see who their 3 wins came against. Bears got trounced by 36 by OG in the opener and it wasn't even that close. Could have been 50+ if the Titans hadn't called off the dogs.

Archbold #1 in D3 vs Wauseon #4 in D2 playing round 2 this week. Archbold won by 6 at home. Will Wauseon be able to turn the tables on their own floor?

I disagree...having watched both teams I can honestly say that Wauseon's guards will be the difference in this one. They are physically stronger and quicker then the Streaks guards. Neither team has much of an inside game but Wauseon will control this one from start to finish.

The other factor here is the game is played at Wauseon. Visiting teams do not shoot well in the WigWam. They have the large set of bleachers/open end at the one end of the gym where it is tough to judge the rim and gauge your shot. The other part of playing at Wauseon is that their gym is a little dimly lit compared to other gyms in the area.

It will be a great atmosphere and I am sure a sell out but Indians win this one by 10-15.

I don't see anywhere on the thread where you challenged that BEFORE the game. Calling it out BEFORE the game takes balls. After the game? He had his view. You had none.

Hopefully the game is a sign NW Ohio will be competitive at D3.

Kudos to the Streaks. Didn't see that coming. Wauseon guards have been terrific up until last night. I stated before the game that Archbold doesn't shoot well at Wauseon but I had no idea Wauseon would shoot that poorly in their own gym.

I would "guesstimate" that the Indians shot 20% from the field and 50% from the foul line.

Even though shots weren't falling it was a great game to watch. Both teams left everything on the floor. Great move by Archbold coaching staff going to 2-3 zone in 2nd half, Wauseon was not ready for that offensively. 2 great teams and a great atmosphere last night at Wauseon. Does anyone know capacity in Wauseon Gym? It had to be close to sell out if it wasn't...

Not sure I remember correctly but I thought the Blade article I read said it was a capacity crowd of 1,600.

Nice win for Evergreen over Anthony Wayne to push their record to 10-1. It will interesting to see how they do vs Archbold and Wauseon.

Might be time to give Coach Kiefer and the Vikings of Evergreen some love...looks like they are playing really well on both ends of the floor.

Should be a great game at Archbold on February 15th.
