Div iii

Nice to see 2 schools separated by 4 miles Ranked #1 and #2 Its a shame Bellbrook will never schedule Alter. That would be a fun Rivalry. In looking at this list will Trotwood get into the playoffs if they happen to lose to Wayne this Friday?

Division III
1 Archbishop Alter (8) 8-1 213
2 Bellbrook (13) 9-0 204
3 Canfield (1) 8-1 197
4 Kenston 8-1 108
5 Sheridan 8-1 103
6 Eastmoor Academy 8-1 101
7 Bishop Hartley 7-2 72
8 East 8-1 47
8 Wapakoneta 8-1 47
10 Trotwood-Madison 6-3 37
Others: 11, Buckeye 34. 12, Granville 30. 13, Hillsboro 24. 13, Norwalk 24. 15, Bishop Fenwick 20. 16, Chardon 18. 17, Chaminade
Julienne 16. 17, Clyde 16. 19, Marlington 13. 20, The Plains Athens 12.

I don't think you can say Bellbrook will never schedule Alter. A lot has changed at Bellbrook since the series ended several years ago. Bellbrook was just not competitive.

Now the Eagles have a brand new....very focused, results oriented athletic director in Charlie O'Dell....and an energized, new head coach in Jeff Jenkins. I look for all of Bellbrook's athletics to surge in the coming years....and hope to see Alter and Bellbrook meet on a regular basis on the gridiron. I think the Eagles can be competitive with the Knights down the road in football. I would like to see the series resume...and think it will.

Yea Bellbrook is 9-0 but they are playing in an extremely weak conference with a VERY weak out of conference schedule. The teams they have beat are mediocre at best. Alter would run them out of the stadium before the first quarter was over! This shouldn't even be a discussion.

Trotwood is 98% in, with a loss. They're vulnerable, but they're still Trotwood so I'd never sleep on them.

I would love to see Alter play Bellbrook every year. They're close, the kids know each other, and Bellbrook has a very nice stadium to play in. Bellbrook is also (now) in a different region, so they wouldn't meet until the state semis, if at all.

Alter would probably get the better of it for now, but Bellbrook is much better now than it was ten years ago, and will likely get even better with better competition. And computer points for whichever team wins would be a great boon.

Sounds like a win-win.

Alter coach Domsitz said he had no interest in over-scheduling non-conference teams. He was OK with adding Bishop Hartley or DeSales to the schedule, but not both. Don't know if he'd have been fine with Watterson or St Charles. They have an opening Week 5 in 2019 and 2020 unless they've already filled it with a team that isn't likely to beat them.

That could be Bellbrook because, until proven otherwise in the post-season, Bellbrook is just a paper tiger with a weak schedule to the rest of the state/slate.

https://www.journal-news.com/sports/...ot8jtwg7tMhiM/

If Bellbrook is actually good, they're just going to have to wait to beat Alter in the playoffs like Hartley does. Ed's got all he can handle right now, thanks.

“It came down initially that we were supposed to play Watterson and Hartley,” Domsitz said. “I didn’t want to play Hartley and DeSales in the same year. That was fine initially, then they changed it all and said, ‘Here’s what we’re going to do — Alter’s going to play the two best teams in Columbus.’

“We’re not doing that. That’s ridiculous. For crying out loud, we’re a mid-sized D-IV team playing D-III as it is (because of competitive balance). Can you imagine opening up against Fairmont, Thurgood, somebody in Week 3 and then DeSales and Hartley?"

Are you kidding me? Mid sized D4 playing D3 as it is hahaha what a sissy that guy is. You have one of the best teams in the state year in and year out and you complain about playing Hartley AND DeSales!? That's the biggest cop out I have ever read in my life. Life is good going 9-1, 10-0 every year and getting bounced early in the playoffs rather than playing tough competition in the regular season. SAD!

^ agree, the last time Alter played someone really good in the regular season was Thurgood in 2013 and before that in 2010 against Centerville. Most years they don't face a tough opponent until week 13 or 14.

Here's a list of why Coach D thinks like he does. From Drew Pasteur's Fantastic 50 list of best teams in playoff danger. If your goal is a playoff run, why would you jeopardize it with a killer schedule, where your better players face a greater chance of injury? Also note: several of these teams were bumped up a division by CBP, as was Alter.

Division 3
#5 Akron St Vincent-St Mary (6-3) 0%
#7 Columbus St Francis DeSales (5-4) 65%
#8 Mentor Lake Catholic (6-3) 0%
#11 Louisville (5-4) 0%
#13 Aurora (6-3) 44%
#14 Cleveland Glenville (7-2) 0%
#18 Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (7-2) 1%
#24 Richfield Revere (6-3) 19%
#28 Parma Padua Franciscan (6-3) 59%
#29 Alliance (6-3) 45%

I'm very familiar with 6 of these teams, and the reason they're out or on the bubble is because their schedules turned out to be way too soft. They're receiving very minimal L2 points from their wins because they came against too many bad teams. Glenville is out because they were ruled ineligible.

I keep re-reading this and trying to understand what you are saying. Alter regularly makes deep runs into the playoffs and schedules solid non-conference opponents. The goal is to get your team into the playoffs both tested and healthy and that's what they consistently do. The formula works just fine.

You call Fairmont (schedule made before current coach), Thurgood, Withrow and Xenia solid opponents? In what universe?

Is this basically a play-in game for Trotwood and Wayne? I'm not familiar enough with the Regions to know if either team could still make the playoffs with a loss. Although, I agree with you that if Trotwood make the playoffs, they'l be the favorite in D3.

Trotwood is 98% in even with a loss
Wayne is basically out with a loss 1% chance

Now Thurgood actually beat Alter twice before it all hit the fan. But other than that I agree. I would like to see them schedule LaSalle or some of the Indy schools.

Seriously don't be that guy. Pointing out something that could be construed as racist does not make one a idiot nor a liberal. Secondly, I totally understood what you meant by that statement. Normally people sub the term elephant for gorilla, but I get it.

Trotwood is still a top contender but I don’t think they are a heavy favorite. They have some holes this year that they don’t typically have. I think Alter is the favorite in d3 right now

What guy.... the victim or race baiter that sees racism in everything.

And I will stick with gorilla vs elephant metaphor and leave it up to the snowflakes to be offended.

Didn't Carroll play someone from Indy and WIN like 40 something - 0? That proved well and helped get ready for their GCL schedule.

Two D1 teams in the same year is pretty good in my eyes. Fairmont and Cville wether Cville is rebuilding or not it still is a good test for the Knights.

800lb elephant? That's like a tinkerbell elephant. No one says that. 800lb gorrila is only racist if its.. well,..it's never racist.

Didn't we recently have a major hollywood movie extolled for it's black actor presence in which dozens of main characters hooted like gorillas to show strength? No one called that racist.

Trotwood is the eleventy million lbs gorilla in any play-off. Keep your luggage at home.

I think he was probably referring to some of the Indy area catholic schools, which are traditionally very good. Not just any "Indy" school like Carroll played - an IPS school that is not very good (think Meadowdale, Withrow, etc...)

We played Guerin Catholic twice recently, once in Lucas Oil Stadium. Won both times.
