I believe the winner of that race qualifies for the big NY Adidas postseason meet which has very limited entries nationwide. She might run New Balance or Brooks which are the same weeked if she qualifies but has this one in her pocket if she chooses that route when the time comes. This is a very nice feather in her cap.

Just continuing her good form from New Balance Nationals a few weeks ago.

4.6 seconds faster and she'll break Connie Jo Robinson's long-standing Cincinnati area record of 4:48.3 (MT) back in 1982!

I doubt she'll take down CJ's record in the mile, but she definitely can make a run at Annie Heffernan's 1600m city record of 4:48.39 done when Annie won the state meet in 2015. Sam's 4:52.82 mile proves she's capable of running under 4:50 in the 1600 meters. Yes, the video calls it a Girls Adidas Dream Mile Qualifier.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Ms. Bush DOES break CJ's record by 1-2 seconds.

Adidas Girls Dream Mile is Sunday May 19.

No way she runs this race right in the middle of post-season and risks her eligibility. In my opinion, this is a dumb time of year for a big race.

Good correction on the date. It used to be after the Ohio State meet on the same weekend with New Balance then Brooks started their meet on the same weekend. All three conflicted at one time. I assume the meet is not well attended for the reason you stated. I think most southern schools are finished in early May so that is probably why they held a qualifier in North Carolina.

You've got to remember that a whole lot of the nation wraps up HS track by the 2nd weekend in May. When I lived in Georgia, outdoor track began 1st weekend in March. Outdoor practice began early February.
