Lima Senior vs Akron STVSM

Well we go into Akron playing the Irish on St. Patty's weekend.. Don't know too much about the Irish this year other than they are good. Lunden McDay seems like he's been there for ten years! Know about him, but not the rest.. Thoughts folks?

Well to give you an idea based off St.Joes playing the Irish, St.V is loaded, well coached, will have their entire fan base inside The JAR since itís right in their backyard, and will press you to the brink. Best of luck with the Irish!

Good to see the Irish advancing in D1. Coach Joyce is an Ohio coaching legend.

Yet people give Chuck Kyle tons of credit for always getting Ignatius deep in the playoffs.

McDay does seem like a 10 year veteran, I'll give you that! He is going to be a force playing for OU for the next 4 years. The Irish have a couple of excellent, strong ball handlers with Chris Painter and Seth Wilson. But it is the emergence of Malaki Branham that has kept the Irish in the championship conversation. The Irish, despite all the AAU references, are a defense-first team. They are a lot like Trotwood in that respect that they feel the pressure will wear down opponents as the game wears on. They are deep and experienced and they will not panic in a close game or if they fall behind. They do NOT have a lot of height (!) which can be their Achilles heal. They like to get out and run, but they can prevail in other types of games. In the past couple of games they have faced 2 different styles of play in a slow-down offense and a tightly packed zone defense. At this point all the teams are good (!), and there are no upsets (unless Moeller or, maybe Trotwood, go down). But the Irish will be a tough out. In the same vein, what can we expect from Lima? Which players should we be on the lookout for?

In all seriousness, what you said about the Irish, I could say about Lima Senior.. The names of the kids are different but the philosophy is the same.. Only have 2 seniors, Jaleel King and Amhir Curtis. Freshman point guard and a bunch of juniors that just defend the hell out of people. We've played uptempo and the slow down game too. But you all have a size advantage. And as clichť as it is, whoever hits shots and takes care of the ball wins this one..

I think SVSM must be very focused and at the top of their game for this one.

Upset minded Buchtel beat favored VASJ tonight in Dll Canton regional championship.
