Gym floor was 6 figures to replace. As for the uniforms there is more to the story then what it appears. Just say that was not the original design.

Vikings take to the road to play Conerstone on Tuesday and host Benedictine in Viking Village on Friday. Expect a huge crowd on Friday. Freshman start at 4:30 followed by JV at 6 and Varisty at 7:30.

Heck of a win for the Vikings beating Bene 95-83 in OT! Part 2 will be interesting at Bene.

Very chippy game. VASJ wins in OT after playing the game down two players in the second half. Very scrappy win for the Vikings. The game at Bene is going to be a war.

Priah and Calhoun - both huge contributors. Joe's basically played the second half with their hands tied behind their back. Calhoun is the starting point guard and Priah is a very good defender and rebounder.

How was it that #25 for Bene shoved Waag in the back after the halftime buzzer, setting off the whole mob fighting and he stayed in the game? I saw the whole thing from beginning till the end.The two were engaged in a basketball play in front of the scorer's table/Bene bench when the buzzer sounded and Waag appeared to be walking away(back turned) and got shoved. It didn't look like they were jawing at each other before the shove.

Both guys were guilty of instigating the incident. It actually started on a play under the Benedictine basket a play earlier. The Bengal player started it I agree but Waag had the option to walk away and didn't. You want your players to be tough and not take any s!@t from anybody - but you need to be smart as well.

That being said after all that happened at the end of the half how 25 stayed in the game is beyond me. I'm not being a homer but the Bene player was acting in a instigating fashion the whole second half. He was showing up officials, trash talking, shoving and even grabbed his crotch as he ran back down the court (directed toward the VASJ student section). While is will admit the Joe's kids are no angels and they do play with a edge and attitude - they are not bullies. I think Bene after falling behind by 22 decided to step up the physical play - and it worked. It got them the lead in fact. I dont think either team is dirty. This is what you get when two championship caliber schools and programs lock up in a packed house. If you think this game was tough wait until the rematch at Bene and possibly the game in Canton.

I know for a fact the schools respect each other but there is always some undertones it seems when these two play. I know in the freshman game you had kids who wanted to attend VASJ and the VASJ coaches wanted them - but administration did not accept them. Many of these kids on both teams know each other well.

By the way Bene has a VERY nice JV squad.

Now a view from Benedictine:
* Benedictine also had two players ejected at halftime, Cobb & Bishop. Cobb is one of our leading scorers and Bishop is our third big. The lost of Bishop was big because it forced Barba #22 and Kilbane #25 to play the entire second half and overtime. VASJ is deeper that Benedictine, especially in the front court, and Benedictine used a ton of energy to crawl back and take the lead. However in OT Benedictine was totally gassed.
* Kilbane #25 is a very physical player. He has over 30 drawn charges in 11 games this year. He had 5 last night. Of course with a charge, the other team says it's a flop, and I heard plenty of that last night.
* You say Kilbane grab his crotch in front of the VASJ student section, it might have been in retaliation, to the VASJ player making the throat slashing gesture to the Benedictine student section a few minutes earlier. Both of those acts are wrong.
* Trash talking was occurring from both teams, and just how does a player, show up an official? What does that mean. If Kilbane ever disrespected or showed up an official, he would of been given a technical foul or a least not gotten the benefit of the call for the three charges he took in the second half.

Yes, it was a tough physical game, and the game that is to be played at Benedictine later this year, I expect to be the same. Hope to see you guys in the sweet 16, down in Canton. As the districts pan out, it looks like Benedictine has a little easier road than VASJ to get to that point. Good luck the rest of the season, save one, possibly two games.

First off I mean no disrespect to Benedictine. When I say show up the official its arguing after the call and being told enough is enough, body language after the call and complaining about it long after the play is over. I just thought 25 instigated much of the action last night. I did not see the throat slash sign last night and I watch games pretty closely. I hate that no matter what team does that.

I'm old school. I like hard tough respectful play and your performance does the talking. I understand holding your ground and not taking s@#t from the other team as well. This years Joe's team is deep. In past years one or two players carried the load. This year you truly have to defend all 5 positions and they go 8 or 9 deep.

I was disappointed Joe's blew that big lead but Barber heated up. You have to think 7 3s is above and beyond what is expected - even by an elite player like him.

I like the fight in this Joe's team. They beat 3 very good teams in OT (Heights, Hoban, Bene) and did it with desire, composure and hustle.

I totally expect these two squads to meet in Canton - baring a unfortunate injury.

Good Luck to the Bengals the rest of the season - except for two games.

Since Priah and Calhoun were both ejected at the half including the 2 Bengals. Won’t they have to miss the next game due to suspension since it happened after the 1st half? Or are they suspended for a half the next game because they were leaving the floor for halftime?

I was within earshot of some of the trash talk last night and it all basically stemmed from the Bene players mocking the “new” VASJ jerseys. It looked as if a few of the VASJ were fed up with the mocking because the players really love those new uniforms.

I also have a question concerning the ejections, does Coach Babe have to return the sportsmanship award they won at the holiday tournament or do they get to keep it? It’s always more important how you do things than what you do.

MugnMaul gave us the story already. The uniforms are part of a 10k package that Under Armour gave to the school as part of being the only Ohio school sponsored by them. The kids love them. The parents are ecstatic. Anything other than that would be just a made up story so please do not spread lies.

This is in reference to the awkward red patches on the white uniforms. It was mentioned here that there is more to this than a curious design. The home whites are not the original design.I'll do my due diligence but rest assured I will not repeat anything on this site or spread lies.Good enough?

Funny how I asked this question and got no reply. That STORY OR MIS-INFORMATION got swept under the rug pretty quickly didn't it? Things get said here that are pretty inflammatory and make no sense to interested observers.Things that make you go....HMMMM..... But nothing. However an issue with a uniform design evokes a stern reprimand.Interesting……..very very interesting.

Kinda funny isn't it, like the time you and your crew threatened BBALL216. The only difference between then and now is that BBALL knew you guys were weak and pathetic.

Not a threat. If this is your "CAREER" then you need a real job OR to wait another 18 days for that welfare check to arrive.

The Vikes have a couple great home games coming up at the Viking Village. On Friday 1/18 we have Gilmour (Frosh 4:30pm, JV 6pm, and Varsity 7:30pm) and on Monday 1/21(MLK Day) with St Ignatius (JV 5:30pm, Varsity 7:00pm). We should have nice crowds and competitive games.
