Tallmadge 59

Bad loss. Tallmadge led most of the way and was up 5 with 30 seconds left. Mental mistakes, missed free throws and fouling cost Tallmadge this game down the stretch. Hussing missed a half court shot at the buzzer that went in and out.

Anyone have the Barberton/Copley score? I saw that Copley won the game in overtime, just haven't seen a final score.

Was unable to make it to game, but general upshot was that Copley got out to a big lead early, Barberton came roaring back, turned into a bit of a prize fight, and the Indians were able to pull it out in OT at the foul line. Barberton had a chance to win on a 3 at the buzzer, but it didn't go in. Don't know many details, just that the Magics held the advantage on FT attempts 28-11.

First time I got to see Tallmadge play this year. Definitely a much faster pace than years past for the Blue Devils. They played a 10 man rotation. Had a big lead and all 15 players got into the game tonight.

Unfortunately, Kent is going to continue to struggle. They weren't very efficient in getting the ball into the basket. They play hard but they are just not at the same level as the rest of the SLA.

Blame the Kent coach and administration for letting this guy run the program into the ground. Something like 5-45 for his 3 years at Kent. Why did 2 returning starters from last year not come back for their JR and Sr seasons? Why did 2 senior starters quit the team 5 games into their senior year in 2015-16? Kids donít want to play for this idiot. Administration turned a blind eye when this started and it will continue until he is fired. He also cut 6 returning seniors in his first year as head coach, 1 would have been starting point guard, and all were ďat risk kidsĒ who he didnít want to deal with their issues.

Yes he does. Heads the APEX department. Not 100% sure what that is but he is full time at the school.

Big comeback in the last couple minutes by Copley. Tallmadge was up 53-33 with about 2 left in the quarter.

The Tallmadge/Copley game was like three different games tonight. Tallmadge dominated for the first 2.5 quarters, leading 53-33.

Copley dominated for about a quarter. Game was tied at 57-57 with 4:00 left. Then it was a battle with Tallmadge scoring the winning FT with 1.1 seconds left in the game. A 3/4 court shot for Copley was way off the mark to end the game.

Copley did hit a 3 pointer with :20 left in the game to tie it. Mad scramble to end Tallmadge's possession ended with a foul under the basket as Nick Hussing got hit trying to shoot the game winner. Went to the line, missed the first, Copley called timeout, and then he sank the free throw to win the game.

Great game overall.

It was a great win. But it NEVER should have come down to that. Bottom line is that we got the win, but I hope that some lessons are learned from this game. I will leave it at that.

Give it a while. I like what I see from Tallmadge. They had three kids coming back this season with some varsity experience. They have a new coach with a very different style. They started slow but I think they are going to turn into a very solid team this year.

The overall league may be down a little but that doesn't mean it isn't still some good basketball.

The big surprise so far has to be Aurora's strong start. They haven't really competed in the league since they joined a few years ago.
