Northwestern Wildcats in the B1G Championship game?

Looks like the Wildcats might pull it off with the win over Wisconsin. Iowa lost to PSU; Purdue lost.
Northwestern vs Ohio State or Michigan?

This may very well be the case. Northwestern has a 1.5 game lead in the West with three league games left on their schedule, and two of the three games are Minnesota and Illinois.

They certainly have to be the favorite at this point. If they beat Iowa in two weeks they should win the West as they'll hold tiebreakers over every other contender.

Northwestern's biggest game (from the Buckeyes perspective) could very well be next week versus Notre Dame.

A Notre Dame loss would certainly help the Buckeyes playoff chances.

Wouldn't be a good look at all.

Hopefully this is just one down year for Wisconsin and Frost gets Nebraska on track quickly. The West need to step it up.

Great for Northwestern, bad for the Big Ten. I really feel the Big ten needs to reshuffle the divisions. Probably the 3-4 best teams are arguably in the east division. This creates a bad conf championship game and so on.

The city of Indianapolis has to be bumming. While either UM or tOSU travel well they will have to make up for a lot of returned tickets from the Northwest faithful for the B1G title game as they do not show up for home games let alone a roadie to Indy.

The key to the west is to get Nebraska back to where they were historically, that would help a lot. Also shifting Sparty to the West and Purdue to the east would help and they can keep their rival game w/ UM protected, that is what is currently being done with IU and Purdue who are in separate Divisions.

Fleck and Frost reaching their potential would help in balancing the divisions. Give it a couple of years.

I'm still not sure if Minnesota can improve without it coming at the expense of Wisconsin. We will see.

I don't see how Minnesota or Nebraska can improve without it coming at the expense of Wisconsin & Iowa. You're not going to convince many kids to come there from outside that area of the country.

The Big Ten West is essentially a giant ponzi scheme. A couple programs will be pretty good but not great at any given time, and the rest will be garbage. I can't really see that changing.

This all goes back to the Big 10 really fu*king up their expansion.

Even if they lose to Iowa, they will most likely go to the big ten championship game because of the tiebreakers they own.

Isn't the first tie-breaker head-to-head result, in which Iowa would have?

Iowa is tied with Purdue and Wisconsin right now. There's a good chance there will be a three way tie with Wisconsin, Iowa and Northwestern. If that happens Northwestern gets the three way tie on the 5th tiebreaker. Iowa needs to beat Northwestern and for Purdue to beat Wisconsin to win the West.

Northwestern did indeed clinch the B1G West Division this past Saturday. They have a 2-game lead and own the tie-breakers over Wisconsin, Purdue and Iowa. They came in at #22 this week in the CFP Rankings - with games against Minnesota and Illinois left they should win out and have a chance to climb into the top 15 as these other ranked teams beat each other up. You'd have to think Michigan or Ohio State needs Northwestern to get at least to #15 for the B1G result to matter in the eyes of the committee considering the Big XII will likely get OU-WVU in a top 10 rematch for the Big XII title game and undefeated ND.

I think Northwestern's ranking only matters for Ohio State. Michigan will be in if they win out, IMO. Ohio State needs a lot of help.

But then what happens if Georgia somehow beats Bama in the SEC Title game? Would Michigan be in regardless even if they beat Northwestern by 1 score in Indy?

Good point. In that case it may not matter for either Michigan or Ohio State as the committee would probably not leave out the team that beat Alabama.

M*chigan could possibly be in over Bama in that scenario

Yeah, shifting MSU would probably be the best option. Really donít want to lose the annual battle with them but Iíd rather they get moved over than Penn State or M*chigan.

Would definitely solve a lot of problems if Nebraska gets back on track. If that happens no reorg may be necessary

IMO, if Georgia beats Bama. Georgia & Bama both in along with undefeated Clemson & ND. Michigan out.

Itís easy to leave out Ohio State this year with embarrassing loss to Purdue. But, there will be a ton of he!! raised if 1-loss Big Ten champ Michigan is left out.

Lets say Michigan throttles OSU and NW.
Ga wins close over bama so both of them are in.

ND and Clemson round it out.

Leaving out a 1 loss big ten team playing great could be an impetus to get 6 in...

I'm sure it come out nice and neat for the committee:

Bama wins out
ND wins out
Clemson wins out
Oklahoma wins out
Michigan loses to OSU
Wazzu loses to UW

Shout out to Isaiah Bowser reppin' my town. Picked up the slack in the run game after Larkin retired.
