Navy was blown out Air Force on Saturday. That one might to be as tough as I initially thought.

I'm really starting to like the QB. I wasn't impressed with him in the UCLA game but now he looks much more comfortable and confident. His speed really creates issues for opposing defenses and his throwing accuracy is improving. I think this team can absolutely win 10 games and maybe more. I don't know how good South Florida and Central Florida are just yet but the top of the conference looks to be pretty good. The American has the same amount of ranked teams as the Pac 12 and ACC.

It is tough in that you only see the offense once a year and they play incredibly disciplined football and they seldom beat themselves. You have to earn the W when you play Navy and I am not so sure that UC at this point has the needed discipline to match up with the Midshipmen.

Good test coming up this weekend for UC. After a dreadful start to their season the Owls have turned things around and have a nice W on their resume against Maryland. They have a decent defense but very inconsistant on offense. Hopefully coming off of their bye the Bearcats will be fresh and have used their extra practice time to bring more of a dynamic pass game into the fold. Also the game will be played in a nearly empty NFL stadium which believe it or not can sometimes can be a distraction for the visitors:

Temple started the season slow, although losses to buffalo and boston college both look much better now as both those teams are having strong seasons. They've been playing better as the season goes on and should be a formidable challenge for the bearcats.

Nice stop by the defense after the fumble. Should have had an INT though

Terrible ball security by Ridder

Another nice stop in the redzone. Could easily be 14-0.

Refs took 3 points away from US at the end of the half. Hopefully it doesn't come down to that call.

Replay needs to be scaled back a bit. Make a strict time limit for reviews and unless the call is blatantly obvious it shall stand. There's no way that Temple TD should have been overturned.

UC defense keeping them in the game

The coaching today for UC has been terrible. I know Smith was 0/3, but they should have kicked the FG on 4th & 2 inside the 30 to try and go up 2 possessions. Then they pick it off twice near the end and go full-on conservative mode when they had a chance to put it away. I know they wanted to run the clock but Temple had all 3 timeouts still so what did it matter? And then they just let the final 20 seconds run off the clock when they still had 2 timeouts left. Why? Not to mention the delay of game on the very first play of that last possession.

Embarrassing loss, honestly. Bearcats were awful in nearly every aspect at the end and in overtime.

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I too put this on the coaches, Fickel has a long way to go in the game day MGMT department.

Frustrating for sure, but at the end of the day this team is still 6-1 and way ahead of expectations.

The whole second half seemed like proper adjustments were not made on O or D. Obvious situations where you do not let the guy behind you the D seemed to play press coverage. Yeah they were very good receivers but still the positioning gave them an edge. Last 50 seconds and 2 timeouts wasted especially with the OT effort from coaches and players. I do agree UC has overachieved and 6-1 is good but 7-0 was possible and they let it slip away.

6-1 is probably a bad place to angst when consensus was an even up season. Play Temple 10 times, Cinci wins 7.

Completely agree. They started taking the air out of the ball way too early offensively. You give a team enough chances they're going to tie it up. They were lucky to get a red zone INT the one time. Not real impressed with Ridder throwing the ball Saturday either. He just looked off for the majority of the game. As someone else said, they're 6-1 with big games ahead of them but it doesn't make it any less frustrating that this was a game they should have won.

This was another frustratingly HUGE mistake by the coaches. We're a running team. Why did we start off with a passing attack? Facing the best defense of the season so far, AND on the road. Let the freshman QB ease into the game and ride warren for the first few series. Ridder got rattled early and struggled to recover. Terrible gameplan.

Ridder has not been impressive. I know he is a freshman. I suppose to some that grants him a lot of leeway, but I'm not so forgiving. His decisions and accuracy leave a lot to be desired. If he does not improve in those areas by mid-season 2019, Fickle and Co. must move on from him. In fact, I think they should be going hard after Kelly Bryant (he's courting programs like Arkansas and North Carolina, so why not UC?). Ridder would learn a lot sitting behind him for a year.

Same reason Burrow went to LSU instead of UC. Take off the red and black tinted glasses.

LSU is a different animal. Massive program. Heaps of talent. National title contender. Arkansas and North Carolina are mediocre at best.

Arkansas is a historical football power going back to the old Southwest Conference. I know most kids don't care, but there is a rich football history there - much more than UC.

North Carolina had an 11-1 regular season not too long ago - 2015 to be exact. They lost in the ACC Title game by one score to National Runner-up Clemson, then fell in their bowl game to finish 11-3. Sure they're a basketball school but they're still in the weaker ACC division and opposite Clemson. If not for the academic misconduct they may be battling for more ACC division titles.

LSU hasn't made the SEC title game since 2011. They haven't had a 10-win season since 2013. They haven't beaten Alabama since 2011. Sure they're a step ahead of both Arkansas and UNC, but let's not put them up there with Bama.

And if we're going to say Arkansas and North Carolina are mediocre programs, then what is UC? Don't get it twisted, I'm a UC grad and I'm very happy with the improvement the Football program has made so quickly under Fickell but I'm also realistic. The odds of Kelly Bryant coming to Cincinnati is about as good as the Bearcats making the Playoff this year - which is to say 0.
