I don't think Urban is going anywhere for at least a few more years, but literally every OSU football coach ends up resigning or getting fired in the end.

I doubt it's any different for Urban. Whenever it's over down the road, it will be due to the pressure of some other scandal arising or due to slipping against Michigan or not making or winning in the playoffs enough. No one leaves OSU peacefully and entirely on their own terms.

At the very least, Studrawa and Davis have to be gone. Probably Schiano as well. Still can’t believe we let Ed Warriner end up at f**king M*chigan. Best offensive line coach in the country

Yeah if weather is bad Iíd take MSU in that game. As of now, UM will destroy us, which makes me nauseous to think about

I started thinking about Buckeye basketball after the Purdue debacle. I believe the Bucks play Cincy on the 7th. (?)

He will not be fired. That would have already happened in August if they were even thinking it.

Yes, the last couple of seasons have caused me to question if Urban isnít long for another burnout. Heís saved himself so far, but OSU isnít just about beating Michigan and going to the Rose Bowl anymore. The playoff era has changed the landscape and goals. Itís playoffs or bust now, just as it is at Bama and Clemson. They recruit at OSUís level, but they donít suffer the unexpected poundings that lead to missing the playoffs. That pressure exists at Oklahoma too, and it might have been more than Bob Stoops wanted to handle anymore. It takes a ton of energy these days. Is Urban still up to it? We shall see what he decides.

In this context, yes...he could indeed be fired, though I suspect it would be negotiated as a retirement.

Schiano needs to go. Something on that side of the ball isn't resonating whether it's scheme or technique.

It's hard to believe they've really whiffed on this many highly rated recruits. It has to be the player development and strategy, and that ultimately falls back to him.

SUBUrban Meyer is clearly finished! Some would wait until the water is up to their neck before declaring the tide has turned!

Every season we complain about the assistants! How long before people realize the problem is at the top?!!

Chicken little?

After sh!tting the bed vs Purdue and laying in it for 2 weeks they licked it up vs Nebraska.

The sky has already fallen.

The way things around going, they're going to lose to Michigan worse than they did Purdue. And that's after they lose to Michigan State

Yeah, with the way things have been trending I'd be somewhat surprised if they don't lose two of their last three. Michigan is peaking and will crush them at the end of the year barring a major turnaround the last few weeks.

Nebraska lost to Troy and nearly just beat OSU at home. Everyone is due a bad game here and there but not consistently. Not with this much talent. Itís not all on the coaches either. The players have to play better. No reason why OSU didnít beat this team, and Purdue by 20 or more.

I said this last year and will say it again. Even with it being unlikely, osu could still get into the playoff and it would be embarrassing. Any of the other 3 teams that would make it would throttle us right now. I watched Alabama last night and that team is on a different level. It would look like an nfl team playing a college team.

Eh. He wanted to be more than an o-line coach and sucked as an OC.

FWIW Nebraska is rated higher than Indiana and Minnesota in FPI, Sagarin and S&P+. It's not ideal that OSU had to come back and still struggle to put away Nebraska but Nebraska isn't your average 2-7 team.

Perhaps that says more about Indiana and Minnesota than Nebraska.

+1

Nebraska has lost one game by 3 points, and 3 games by five points.
Remove the 56 - 10 drubbing by tsun and they have outscored their other opponents 228 - 211.
Would that third game against tsun have played out differently had Nebraska not lost its first two by five each? Not a W for Nebraska, but possibly a much closer game.

However, the poor play and turnovers should have tOSU feeling like that Nebraska game was a loss.

Urban needed to get that figured out and get him paid rather than allow him to leave. Now he’s at our rival and probably going to kick our as$. He left to be an o-line coach elsewhere, it’s not like he took a step up. He was the most important coach on the staff IMO. We dominated for a four year stretch BECAUSE the offensive line dominated. He turned three star guys into all Americans. The current coach is turning 5 stars into second team all conference or just total busts

I thought he left to be Minnesota's o-line coach and OC? I may very well mis-remembering that though. If I am, then I agree completely with you.

Funny, I definitely recall lots of complaints and whining about Warinner when he was the offensive coordinator.

That's because he was a bad offensive coordinator. What does that have to do with wanting him as an o-line coach?

I'm going to assume he wasn't willing to accept a demotion. People were happy when he left as O-Coordinator, but now we should have kept him as O-Coordinator just to retain his services as an O-Line coach? Can't have it both ways.

He wasn't willing to accept a demotion to offensive line coach at Ohio State so he accepted the title of offensive line coach at Minnesota?

I think he and Urban just had a falling out over the offensive production. He's not as effective as OC. Regardless, he was and is the best o-line coach in the country, a position group that is now struggling mightily at Ohio State. He should have been offered a boatload of money to stay on at OSU in that capacity

I have no idea if he's the best O-Line coach in the country. But it's worth noting Michigan's offensive line doesn't rank particularly high(about level with OSU's) per Football Outsiders: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ncaaol

Good points. If you throw in the fact that Nebraska needed to win out to be bowl eligible they were a dangerous team to be playing.
