Team is considering playing at the Stubhub Center for the next two years, which has a maximum capacity of 27,000.

Good lord why? They'll be moving again in 10 years. LA does not need to 2 NFL teams.

As a Browns fan, this just sickens me. I was 13 when they moved. And it wasn't for a lack of fans, or support, or anything. It was only over money.

Seeing then Houston, St. Louis, now San Diego and possibly Oakland losing teams, it just distances myself from my love of football at the professional level.

When I was younger, it was inconceivable to me that I would miss an NFL game on TV or (once I could afford to go) games in person. Now, it's been over a year since I gave up my Browns season tickets. And it wasn't entirely just because I saw the 1-15 season coming (I did, but it wasn't my reason), it was just the way the league treats the team and in turn the way the team treats the fans. And it wasn't worth it any longer.

But, moving a team sucks. Especially when you've grown up with the team. Followed the team for years. And realize the team is leaving, not because they're not succeeding where they are, but because they can make even more elsewhere.

Some people dismiss St. Louis since they just spent 20 years in St. Louis and 'really belong' in LA (nevermind they were in Cleveland before that). But, to say "San Diego is going home" by going to Los Angeles is a bit missing the point. They played one year in a start-up league and failed miserably before realizing their best bet to succeed was to find new markets rather than competing in already established markets.

And the thing that led them to San Diego is the same thing that's going to come up once they're a tenant in the Rams' stadium.

Football is no different than Joes' burger shack. If you don't put out a quality product, you won't succeed.

This keeps getting better. Just read that:

Spanos family is worth $2.1B
Stadium in SD would have cost $1.2B
NFL offered $300M to Spanos to build a stadium
NFL relocation fee is $650M, plus he'll have to pay rent and pay for the new stadium in LA

So Spanos is doing all of this to save what will probably be less than $100M. So happy that SD taxpayers told the guy to go screw himself

Over-runs could easily eat a big hunk of $100M, depreciation and maintenance of an enormous new building, as opposed to maybe an NFL "E-Z payment plan" of the relo fee out of revenue sharing..... Lot's going on here. Apples to oranges comparison, I think.

If Art didn't have an offer, the Browns might have played in the 'Shoe while Municipal Stadium was replaced on the same site. Bolts don't have the fan base.

The thing about those figures......they expect the franchise to nearly double in price when its all said and done so he is doing it for that...not these figures above

This stuff below is all relevant, too.

It will do a lot to pay off the debt incurred in building it.

I'm sure they are 100% behind directing another "revenue stream" at that address for a few years.

The Chargers will not own the LA stadium, the Rams will. And whoever Spanos sells the team to will be stuck with a $650M+ relocation fee. I don't claim to be smarter than a multi billionaire, but this looks like a total fiasco in every way

You're ignoring that basically every other NFL owner was strongly against moving to LA, but Spanos did it anyway. The NFL doesn't want their teams to play in 27,000 seat stadiums, it's embarrassing.

They say the temp move is for building a fan base, but it's likely cheaper and hurts SD as payback for not building something for him and the NFL, so there's an added bonus or two there....

How much is the Chargers' early exit before Rams' Stadium completion going to cost SD in lost municipal income tax from player game checks ?

The hard part of St. Louis is this is the second time someone left them ... the Cardinals where in St. Louis for almost 30 years before they left in the mid 80's for Arizona. To me, an old guy ... the LA Rams sounds right ... that is what I grew up with ... but so does the St. Louis Cardinals.

There's too many teams. Span should have sold the team to the NFL and they should have a disbursement draft for all of the current players on the roster.

I think the cities that get involved in these are at such a disadvantage because it become so personal. For me, it does not matter what the Spanos family is worth. I know that's a tough pill to swallow for San Diego, but my question always, what is it worth for your city to NOT have a pro football team??

The Houston Oilers moved to Nashville in 1998 and played in Memphis and Vanderbilt Stadium for two seasons before their stadium was built. The Chargers aren't going to draw anyway, so a 27,000 seat stadium is probably about right.
