From what I've read and heard from the community, it goes well beyond typical hazing. Many believe that it will be swept under the rug and the investigation is just for show. I can't say I don't believe that. It's pretty serious.

Is this normal hazing or that other kind of hazing?

Does this explain the newton score? I was assuming it was injury related.

4 Starters were given 8 games for the incident(s).
They did not play vs Newton. The 8 games also puts them all back
for Fly into the Hoop. Surprise Surprise.

If it wasn't sexual in nature then what was it? I understand names to be kept private but where are the details of the "assaults"

Here's a local news article. There is a lot of distrust.

Wow. Why isn't the DDN covering this the way they covered a similar incident at Trotwood a while back?

According to someone on the CCC Brawl thread, kids don't do stupid crap in rural western Ohio. I guess they were wrong!

Basketball to Tri Village is what football is to Steubenville or Massillon.

Darke County is polluted with Good 'Ol Boy Syndrome. If something serious really did happen and it gets swept away, this will affect the entire reach of the county. But that's not a discussion for here. Everyone just wants a thorough and honest investigation.

Sounds like the board and coach needs to go. To not even let the parents speak is crazy.

They have atleast one "bad seed" player up there. No names mentioned, not totally surprised at this.

I wonder if this will hurt recruiting????? lol

The coach is the superintendent too I believe.

He really needs to step out of the way and not be involved with the investigation at all. He clearly has a conflict of interest here.

I read in the an article, that the original discipline was eight games. If this is such an issue the sheriff office is involved, that sounds like a drastically light punishment.

Any reasonable coach/super would instantly recognize there needs to be an outside oversight here. Especially once the police are engaged.

In my experience, these are never just a one year thing. Many times hazing has a history. Hope that is not the case here!

Local Paper gives reason for hazing over sexual assault charges.

Max for 4th degree Misdemeanor is 30 days and $250 fine.

Back in 96 a school in our area had a horrible incident of hazing. Probably should have been charged with rape but got a M4. Community service and a small fine. This Sheriff sounds like a complete idiot.

Anyone know what actually happened?

For me it comes down to how offended the individual (s) was (were) by the actions of the perpotraitor. If it was just stupid games that crossed a line and parents were offended, that is one thing, but if we have a case of true victimization of an adolescent then that must be considered.

I am bothered by what appears to be limited outside investigation into potentially serious crimes. Flip side though, if no athletes were physically or emotionally harmed, serve out the eight game suspension and move on. My guess is at least one athlete was harmed enough to tell his parents, that individual deserves the right to a complete investigation,

So you can forcibly rub your junk in someone face and if you say you didn't enjoy it your off scott free with only an 8 game suspension?

One of the articles expressed concern for the safety of the victims if they spoke about it.

Wasnt this similar to what happened at John Carroll?

Durring the 2016 Lake Catholic football camp this past summer.Forced to lay down while others squat over your face and rub their junk in your face.Who suffers more. The pitcher or the catcher.Sounds way way to homosexual for hazing.Whatever kids ordered that as leaders, passing on that tradition, should have been punched in the face and held down by those who were abused and then pissed on.See how you like that STUPID MF'ers You want to play stupid games your gonna win a stupid prize too.Bunch of backwoods hilljack que balls

I would like to see them try that crap in the Dayton city league....

What does this say about the coach when this type of environment has been created. Its obviously a disrespectful and undisciplined one. I don't care how "good" of an on court coach, recruiter that you are.

To add to that, the coach is also the superintendent. If he maintains that kind of loose control over his basketball team, he has zero business making decisions for an entire district, as small as it may be.

I can't believe this district thought it was a good idea to let the superintendent be the basketball coach. A coach answers to the AD and the principal but those two positions answer to the superintendent. That is messed up.

After reading the article in the news this morning, were the parents appealing the basketball suspensions or possible school suspensions. Plus the paper stated four parents met with the board, wasn't there more involved or was this just the players who were not participants but just watched.
