Hubbard Eagle Offseason

Now that the 2016 season has ended I'm starting a very early offseason thread. I'm sure this thread will be buried periodically but hey why not. The Eagles came into 2016 predicted by many to finish around 500. or worse. To put it lightly the team greatly exceeded this expectations with a very young roster. My estimates show 8 returning on offense next season and 7 on defense. Every skill players on offense will return led by the three headed monster of soon to be juniors Morales and Daniels, and soon to be senior Moorer. All three combined for over 3,000 rushing yards in 2016 with Morales leading the way (1500 rushing yards 18 tds). Expectations should be pretty high in 2017. Have a feeling #9 Anderson should be a huge difference maker on defense. Anderson made his season debut week 11 vs mooney and was all over the field. Thoughts? Have heard a "rumor" that a certain area play maker who wears #3 could be joining the Eagles for his junior season. If true this would tremendously boost the Eagles on offense.

I have heard the same thing about a certain #7...4-16 over the past two years must of been too hard for him to handle...along with the prospects of being 5-5 next year...would be an enormous get for the Eagles if it happens.

Will Hubbard be moving up a division in 2017? It seems like kids just magically flock over their every year.

Hubbard has been very good for quite a while. And, a regular in the playoffs.

Not really surprising considering the state of Youngstown schools.
If you're a decent athlete, there's a lot more exposure in Hubbard rather than Youngstown.
A new school, excellent teachers, great tradition, good coaching, great fan support........ a lot of things to attract a student outside the district.
A fantastic football facility doesn't hurt either.

This is how it's been for a while and probably will be for quite some time due to OE.

OE has definitely changed the landscape for many schools in Ohio.
Just how it is.

You can't really blame any kid for thinking about transferring there.

Looks like it definitely should be a home game struthersfan since you only show 4 home games. I read that Bay opted out of coming down to Hubbard Memorial Stadium, anyone know that for sure? I wouldn't of mind playing them again. If it was up to me, I would of liked to open with Canfield but I know that's not going to happen.....just dreaming.

The opener should be at home to give Hubbard 5 home games.

Canfield is out. Their schedule is full already.
They play the same schedule as last year with one exception.
(Going to Chardon, rather than Kenston) Good pickup for them.

Lightbulb Openings at ohsaa.org

Went through Open Dates on ohsaa.org. Of the many openings week one, these seem to make most sense:
1. Dover
2. Fitch
3. GlenOak
4. Stow-Monroe Falls
5. Lake
6. Lake Catholic
7. Field Local
8. Watterson
9. Crestview
10. Ashland
11. Wickliffe
12. Marion-Franklin
13. Bexley

1 through 6 would be ideal/preferable.
Field has not been competitive, even when we played them.
Watterson, Ashland, Marion-Franklin and Bexley might come to Hubbard.
Crestview seems down and is Div5
Wickliffe is Div5 and not very good.

Id personally like to see the Eagles pick up Dover, Fitch or Lake.

Fitch would be a great local matchup, especially with what looks like a strong Hubbard squad and Fitch has been just okay the last few years. Watterson and Lake Catholic would be solid games but I'm not sure Hubbard will play privates.

Why would the Falcons play D4 Hubbard? One D4 is more than enough...and that's only because of 40 years of rivalry

Would love to see hubbard play fitch. Would be a huge game in the valley. If the AD was smart he'd try to get more privates on the schedule. You have to play them in the post season why not regular season. NDCL was a nice regular season game a couple of years ago.

Lol Hubbard vs Ignatius. I know it was almost 100 years ago but still weird to see. Thanks Roberto. Cool stuff.

Crestview is normally a DV playoff team and Wickliffe made the DV playoffs this past year as well...those games would be worth good harbin points. More so than a bigger school who doesnt win any games.

Game #6 .. played on Saturday, 10 November 1923 at Cleveland

Cleve St. Ignatius 31 – Hubbard 0

Then came the hardest game of the schedule for Hubbard High as they journeyed to Cleveland to play the strong St. Ignatius eleven. When Hubbard came on the field there was no question as to who had the strongest team. But our team held the Big Red eleven to two touchdowns the first half. But in the last half the Catholic team overwhelmed our warriors with 19 points. The game ended 31-0, favor of St. Ignatius. The last whistle found Hubbard still fighting as hard as is possible even with defeat staring them in the face.

Well Girard has won 5 games over two years.

Good for Hubbard! If my son is in 8th grade in Hubbard I'm taking him elsewhere. INSANE

That's ludicrous. Nothing is wrong with competition.

Kid from Howland back to Harding and kid from Girard to Hubbard.

Interesting. Not too long ago Girard was a top program. But that kid will be on his third school since 7th grade so I'm not real surprised he's leaving.

From what I've been told. Morales, Anderson, and donlow have a lot of friends interested in becoming eagles. Forgot to mention donlow in my initial post for 2017. Kid played great as a freshman. Look for him to become a home run hitter on offense next season. Could be the fastest on the team. Great size too.
