I have not been out to any of the scrimmages so I am not sure how Wayne has been looking so far. Wayne returns 1 starter from a 25-1 team but still should be loaded and be a force this season. Also, the JV team went 18-1 and Freshman team 19-0 and so there is plenty of talent moving up.....

home opener this Friday.... lets pack the gym and get the RED OUT!!!!

Go Wayne!

So do you know the real story of why the kid from Tecumseh transferred? You see something on paper and just assume. I have inside knowledge on it and it won't be shared on here.

Maybe, but that doesn't explain the other 80-100 transfers in football and basketball in the last six years or so. You couldn't beat us in either sport until that started.

Just like last year, another Centerville person has to come in and take a crap in a Wayne thread that has nothing to do with them. Centerville fans have turned into a bunch of jealous idiots and whiners. Wayne beat Centerville plenty of times in football over the history of them playing, though Wayne basketball had some decent years but wasn't consistently good until Coach Trice came. Besides, Centerville has never been consistent in basketball/football either, as can be seen by 0 state titles and few deep playoff runs.

I'm laughing at the number of transfers you indicated and the statement that we couldn't beat you in either sport before that started.

I was looking at Fairmont's roster and I was surprised that there is only 1 player on this years team that played varsity last season despite Fairmont only having 4 seniors last year.

Wayne hosts Fairmont tonight as it is the opener for both teams....

GAME 1

Fairmont 0-0 @ Wayne 0-0

It was Bochenek that got the scoring started in this game for Fairmont with a 3 and Smith answered for Wayne with a long 3. The 3 point shots were falling for the Firebirds as they took an early lead. Smith scored the first 5 points for Wayne but also picked up an early 2nd foul midway in the 1st qtr and was on the bench for the rest of the half. Fairmont extended the lead as Hendricks came off the bench to hit a pair of threes as Fairmont took a 16-9 lead after 1.

Wayne picked up the pressure on defense and caused problems for Fairmont as the Warriors scored the first 5 to start the 2nd. Fairmont was able to answer the run as they got to the free throw line going 5-5 in the qtr and 8-8 for the half to go up 27-21. Wayne ended the half on a run as McKee came off the bench and hit back to back threes to put Wayne into the lead at 29-27 at the half. Trice added 5 points in the qtr for Wayne and Davidson had 5 for Fairmont.

A Smith 3 to start the 3rd put Wayne up by 5 and it looked like Wayne was going to roll but Hendricks came off the bench and got hot hitting 3 three's scoring 11 in the qtr to put Fairmont back in the lead. James had an ole fashion 3 and Fointno added 4 in the qtr to keep Wayne close and after 3 it was Fairmont 46 Wayne 43.

Wayne picked up the defense in the 4th causing turnovers and drove to the basket on offense getting fouls which lead to free throws. Wayne was able to get the game tied at 48. Wayne took the lead on a Trice 3 and extended it with a Fointno 2 and 1. Wayne hit 10 of 15 free throws in the qtr as Fairmont was forced to foul. Wayne closed it out with back to back dunks by Smith, one was an off the backboard assist by Parker. Hendricks hit a three at the buzzer for Fairmont to make the final Wayne 65 Fairmont 57. Both Hendricks and Smith ended the game with 22 points.

Fairmont 16 11 19 11 - 57
Wayne _ 09 20 14 22 - 65

Scoring: Wayne- Smith 22, Trice 11, Fointno 11, James 7, McKee 7, Parker 4, Hampton 2, Brown 1 : Fairmont- Hendricks 22, Bochenek 8, Davidson 8, Drollet 6, Forman 4, B. Hall 2

Free throw shooting: Wayne 18-28, Fairmont 13-16

Wayne was a bit sluggish on offense in this game. Shots just seem to not want to go in at times but defensively when they got to it it was too much to handle for Fairmont. Smith was dominating and showed he could hit the three ball. Up next for Wayne is Indianapolis Northwestern this Saturday with varsity at 7:30.

=====================================

JV Result: Wayne JV 76 Fairmont JV 64. JV highlight, 6 foot 1 inch sophomore Brown's alley oop dunk for Wayne.... !!!!!

So I assume that Quisenberry has to sit for 10 games? Hopefully the team can gel with him out and have him add some scoring when he gets to play.

No lesson and no truth pill if the player is happy with the decision.

The only life lesson is for those that live it. You don't get to tell others how to live their life...

GAME 2

INDIANAPOLIS NORTHWEST @ WAYNE

For the 2nd straight game Wayne's opponent gets on the board first with a 3 but that lead was short lived. Fointno drained the first 3 for Wayne that put the Warriors up 7-3 early. Trice made it 10-3 with a layup and later Trice has a put back to put Wayne up 19-10 after 1. Trice scored 6 in the qtr.

Wayne pressed in the 2nd qtr and that was trouble for Northwest as they could not get ball across mid court. Wayne was able to get steals and scored 7 straight points as Trice drilled a 3 in the first 30 seconds of the qtr and Wayne was up 26-10. Northwest settled down following a timeout but not much happened in the qtr. Wayne was able to get to the line but was only hitting half of them until the last few minutes Scott and Palma hit a pair of free throws. Wayne led at the break 41-19.

Wayne's domination went into another gear in the 3rd as Smith came out strong scoring back to back baskets. A Trice dunk followed by a two Smith dunks the 2nd one Smith got the rebound and went coast to coast through the whole Northwest team and slammed it down with authority while being fouled brought the house down and put Wayne up 50-21. McKee came off the bench and hit a pair of three's and Palma added 4 points as Wayne was up 65-23 after 3.

4th qtr was mop up as Wayne went on to win 90-38. Wayne's defense caused Northwest fits. Wayne looked much better tonight and hopefully they will continue to improve as they will take on Beavercreek at home Tuesday with an early lead in the league at stake....

Northwest IND 10 09 04 15 - 38
HH Wayne ___ 19 22 24 25 - 90

Wayne scoring: Smith 15, Trice 14, Parker 14, Fointno 11, Palma 10, James 9, McKee 8, Scott 5, Brown 3, Hampton 1

A little past due, and I have no dog on the fight, but those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
Best basketball player right now: Transfer
QB/WR/RB: Transfer
QB last year: Transfer

I don't know enough about Centerville and their players to know how many more were transfers but...

Back on-topic, looking like another big year for Wayne. Can't wait to see Blue be featured a bit more, maybe then people will think that Blue is a D1 basketball player too.

No doubt he can dunk. Great athlete for his age. Too bad he has to to wait 2 years to compete against guys his age again.

Why should it be a topic if he is still eligible to play scholastic sports and will still graduate ?
