Ohio State vs Clemson

Gotta have faith as an OSU fan in this matchup. Clemson can beat any team thanks to the best QB in the country, but OSU's strengths are their secondary and pass rush.

How is Clemson's run defense? I know they struggle against the pass but I'm not sure we're capable of taking advantage of that

Rematch of the 2014 Orange Bowl. A chance for Urban to avenge one of his few losses since coming to Columbus.

Luckily no Sammie Watkins this time, and OSU is a better team.

I was thinking the same thing. Watson may be as good as, or perhaps even a little better than Boyd. However, they don't have anyone at WR as good as Watkins this time around.

I also think Ohio State's defensive backfield is much, much better than it was the last time around against Clemson.

OSU by 10. I haven't been impressed by Clemson at all, they almost choked again last night.

But wait tOSU isn't going to get in because they lost to Penn St. Therefore, Penn St is going to get in, even though they have 2 loses. Oh, and by the same token, Pitt is going to get in over Clemson because Pitt beat Clemson AND Penn St. So Pitt should be in right?

Our defense is much, much better this time around than in 2014, but our offense is worse by a decent margin

Unreal how many receivers Clemson has been turning out. Mike Williams is WR1 from this class as well. They should be able to score. Probably ends up being one of those whoever has the ball last games

Yeah, whoever is recruiting and coaching the receivers at Clemson should be making a ton of money. I'll donate to a fund right now to bring him to OSU

No doubt. Best WR school in the country the past 5-7 years.

Probably true, but did you see Clemson's defense against VaTech? They were horrid.

I like this match up better than either Bama (duh) or Washington. The good news is that the Ohio State defense is good enough to throttle ANY offense. The bad news is that the Bucs offense isn't so good. Best case scenario for OSU was to face the weakest defense among the playoff teams in round one. And they are.

Two reasons:

-- They recruit tall, fast, big WR's

-- Unlike OSU, they actually utilize the WR's

Game is a toss up in my opinion. Will go with the Buckeyes by a narrow margain. 28-24. Let's be real though. NOBODY is beating Bama this year. This is coming from a huge Buckeye fan.

Not ready to accept Bama can't be beaten. Over the years, I've seen better teams than this Bama team lose.

So do the main money-makers from this...ESPN, conferences, NCAA. Ratings will be big and the controversy will generate web clicks from now until next season's selection day.

Same. No doubt they're the prohibitive favorite, but let's see them go against a quality opponent and win a game where their D/ST doesn't score. They can be beat.

I remember in 2014 when there was NO WAY OSU was going to beat Bama and then IMPOSSIBLE that they could beat Oregon.

Gotta stretch the field and make room for Samuel.

Clemson seems to play to the competition, often underperforming against teams their talent tells you they should thump. They've been unimpressive at times this year. I don't think Watson helped his draft stock this year.

I sure like the idea of Urban and his staff having three and a half weeks to figure it all out. I hope they figure out a way to get that offense rolling.

As others have said: stretch the defense.

I don't think our combination of Barrett/receivers/Right Tackle/Tim Beck is capable of that

Unlike OSU, they recruit real WRs, not running backs that they convert into WRs. That could change starting next year, 2018 if Barrett comes back which he likely will.

They are going to have to try.

You just reminded me of something.... http://www.cleveland.com/osu/2016/04..._jones_do.html

Prince scares me, as well. Beck is going to have some help in Meyer and Warinner. Prince is going to need some help, too.

Barrett and the receivers(+1) will rise to the occasion.

I think it's much more likely to change if Barrett does not come back

Absolutely. You'll have real WRs with experience (Victor + Mack + Hill) and a real throwing QB (Burrow)
