God I pray it is not Neal Brown. That would be a horrible fit. Fortunately, he doesn't appear to be a Top 5 candidate currently. Sounds like he's in play for the WKU job.

I hope not. Fickell is the guy they need to get if they hire from the OSU staff.

Obviously Bluth doesn't think highly of Beck, either.

Why Fickell? Schiano made a winner out of Rutgers.

Yeah players hate Schiano, at least as a HC.

I guess. Schiano was fielding good teams and competing for the Big East after 4-5 years at Rutgers. I think he could be a winner in the AAC. But if you think you need a player's coach, then he's not your guy.

Major Applewhite is the Houston coach, very good hire!

UC fans can't like the names being tossed around, Fickle, Brown and the OC of Penn St.

Kiffin will end up at LSU IMO

Quite a slam if Houston turned Kiffin down. He seemed to be the front-runner yesterday....

Also looking like Strong to USF.

If I were UC, I would get Lincoln Riley and fast, he is going to be a good one.

As a UC fan, I'd be pretty pumped with Fickell.

I was hoping Houston would be dumb and would pass on Applewhite. Or that Fickel would come to Florida Atlantic

Oh well. Too optimistic. Bring on some tight end coach no one has heard of and pray it's a diamond in the rough

Fickell would do well at UC. Will recruit Ohio extremely well and develop defenses like Dantonio did

And Schiano gets a full year by himself as tOSU DC to show off his skills for a possible opening at one of the hot seat schools next year like ND, Texas A&M, Tennessee, UCLA,...

2016 Coaching Carousel

Florida Atlantic is going after Lane Kiffin

http://www.espn.com/college-football...ide-head-coach
http://es.pn/2hvC7h3

Would be a home run hire for my school. I'd hope he could turn them around for 2-4 years and then hand it over to an assistant when he advances.

No reason we can't be a solid G5 program with our location and facilities. Indoor practice facility will be ready in about a year too

Would be a great week with this hiring coming days after beating Ohio state in men's basketball !

Yeah I think Kiffin would be a great hire there, especially if he stays for 4 years. Congrats

Not close to happening yet so the congrats are premature. Just talks so far. And some saying they just hit stumbling blocks

I'd go after Leavitt from Colorado ( former USF head coach) if this doesn't work out

Do you let Schiano out of his sky box, to wreak havoc on the sidelines during games ? Is this where people learn to hate him, or is it a change that takes place only when he has HC power ?

Solid move. It shouldn't hurt Fickell. Nice of an Ohio State lifer to reach out to the little brother down-state and help them up off the mat.

Fickell's now only two steps removed from a top 15 college HC job.

Supposedly, Kiffin to FAU is a done deal.

ESPN is now reporting the same thing. Quite a fall from Houston to FAU, though.

It is quite a fall but it shouldn't be. We've just had inept coaching for years. There is always plenty of talent to be a really good G5 program. We also have great facilities and an indoor practice facility on the way

Great media market as well. Hopefully he can do a great job rebuilding for two years and then turn it over to his assistants

Our model should be like a Toledo or Western Kentucky (who is in our conference)

Continually get good college coaches who succeed and then move on. Wku's last 3 coaches are at Oregon Purdue and Louisville now. That should be our goal and there is no reason we can't do that

"Houston" didn't exist not so long ago. FAU, no expectation to retain performance, all directions lead up in one of the most fertile recruiting areas of the country? Not TOO much a drop maybe.

We'll see. However, one thing becomes obvious with this move. Being the OC at Alabama wasn't all that great.
