There were at least 1,500 empties at kickoff. The bottleneck in the horseshoe really needs to be fixed

Does the punter still get the protection rules when he runs out of the position?

It also seems like the linemen are releasing early on those punts.

Why get conservative with Trail? Why not see what he can do?

It worked out. Houston tried to get cute and it backfired. Cats outplayed them in the 1st half. Need to keep the crowd in it and keep the DL fresh. When Houston finally went up tempo the DL got gassed way too easily.

You thought UC's offensive performance in the 3rd quarter combined with yet another gift wrapped, awful INT by Ward was good football?

Jeez, did that get out of hand in a hurry! 16-12 UC, watched some NFL, talked to the wife, switched back, and BLAMMO! Bearcats crapped the bed. Wow

Two pick 6's will do that. UC crapped the bed in the 3rd Qtr. That was the time to take control of the game, but until the last minute they ran 5 plays for a safety and 3 and out. Final scored definitely not indicative of how the game went. Can't tell if Houston is overrated or if UC is actually a decent team, but the final score doesn't tell the story of that game at all.

As the season goes on, the score will be all that matters. Houston blowout.

Will talk later about first trip to Nippert later but on the field Houston dominated statistically and physically. If you cannot run you will not win many football games. Also didn't know Khalil Mack played for Houston, #41 was a beast and looked like a man amount boys on the field.

If that's what the committee looks at they're blind. Houston dominated statistically, but they were even with what many consider a bad UC team through 3 Qtrs. If anyone looks at the final score of this one and concludes a blowout, they're very naive football fans.

Damn, stuck with them for 3-3.5 quarters. UC had every chance to win that, at least 2 really bad INTs by Ward, gift wrapped for UC.

It was very entertaining. Not an "awful football game" by any standard.

I noticed #41 for Houston as well. He just had a different look than the rest of the guys.

Was going to post that last night. Would have been cruel to fire the man right after his mother died, but now that that is over with it's time for him to go. You can't get crushed by USF at home ffs

I've given tubs every benefit of doubt, but its time to move on.

We cannot expect to so easily find a great up and coming coach like we did when we had the Big East BCS tag. With the number of major vacancies expected to be open this year the timing absolutely couldnt be worse. We cannot really afford a buyout and a new contract. The program surely has also lost much of its appeal. Altogether a bad situation and i still believe it must be done.

PJ Fleck would be an amazing hire. Unfortunately he'll land at a more prestigious program. What about Kerry Coombs?

Coombs did a great job recruiting indianapolis. he was close on some good cincy prospects but never landed. Wouldn't expect that to improve with a downgraded conference. he inherited an absolutely loaded DB position, but within a couple years he never reloaded and they were abysmal. I was VERY happy to see him go and don't think he'd be a good choice to return.

I like the idea of picking off an osu coach though, worked with dantonio. Someone with local ties and credibility. Maybe Luke Fickell?

I think tOSU OC Ed Warriner would be the perfect choice for UC. He knows Ohio recruiting and is well liked by his players plus since he has moved up to the booth the Buckeye offense has been killing it so he gets the Xs and Os too. While he will get play for Power 5 gigs they will not be the big ones but the likes of Purdue which are no win situations. Might be rent a coach for a couple years but that is better than a re-tread.

The other solid option would be Charlie Strong if Texas dumps him. I don't see him as a re-tread; he is a good coach that was put in a bad situation and will have a pocket full of cash after the buyout so price should not be an issue.

Things seem to be getting chippy between Tuberville and the media. Saw on twitter he got pretty fired up at the press conference today. Get rid of him now and let the OC take over for the rest of the season.

I don't think UC has a chance at getting PJ Fleck however. There's going to be so many other big time openings he should be able to find a better job. Fickel or Strong would be awesome
