No doubt. There's no reason for kids like that to go to Kentucky or Indiana or any other lower tier Power 5 program that's just going to get pummeled by Alabama and Ohio State every year anyway.

Why not go somewhere where you can compete for a conference championship and get in a BCS bowl, which is never going to happen at a place like Kentucky or Indiana?

There's absolutely no reason why UC shouldn't be consistently winning 9-10 games a year while cycling through some "up" years of making some New Years 6 bowls.

The Big East years got us to a point where facilities/fanbase etc is all in place. Coupled with the local recruiting and an AAC schedule that is still respectable but very manageable.

Pulling recruits from the Indiana's and Kentucky's of the world shouldn't be difficult.

Fickell already paying dividends on the recruiting trail. Jarrell White from LaSalle just committed to UC and said he never considered UC until Fickell was hired and made him a priority. 3 star LB/RB.

He's a 4* Athlete on Rivals. Great first pickup for Fickell.

Looks like Joker Phillips is the new WR coach (Former UK HC) and Al Washington (From BC) is the new DL coach. Impressive staff being put together by Fickell.

DL coach Al Washington, considered Boston College best assistant.

Very impressed with Fickell's staff so far. Very experienced, strong recruiters, especially within the region, which is how our Big East teams were built.

I'm excited to compete with lower and eventually mid tier P5 teams again.

Former Virginia defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta is expected to join the Cincinnati staff, according to Rivals.com. Columbus native, coached at Ohio State from 1996-2000. He’s been a defensive coordinator at Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, SMU, Kanas State and more.

Again quality experience with more ohio ties, our recruiting should really take off. As compared to coach tubs local non effort. Heres a quote from LaSalle's Jarell White who recently committed to Fickell's staff:

"At first I thought it was a joke because UC never recruited me hard, I just got the offer and that was it." What a total lack of effort by Tubs for the kids in his own backyard. How did he get recruits at all? No wonder the program was in free fall.

Hearing rumors that Torrance Gibson could be coming to UC. Former HS 4 star QB that was at OSU for a year as receiver but the school suspended him. Tweeted that he was on a plane today back to Ohio and apparently it has been confirmed that he is not enrolled at OSU for this semester.

Nothing confirmed yet, but OSU recruiting news had his plane ride from Florida to Cincy today and reports that he could join Fickell.

As do I, it would be big for Uc and Fickell to get an athlete like Gibson.

If Gibson comes to UC, he will be like Pryor for OSU, IMO. QB in college, WR in the NFL. Half of me really hopes he ends up at UC, the other half hopes he somehow gets back to the Buckeyes.

Gibson? bad grades and harasses females; "But what I am going to promise you is that we'll put a product on the field that you will be extremely proud to call your own."

Cinci will do better focusing on keeping kids home. Fickle has stated that intent, right? Athletes tend to make the most loyal of alums and few single cities can provide the depth of talent Cinci area can. Seems a win-win, even if it takes a few more years to build the program to stability.

His biggest challenge might be out-recruiting ND, not OSU.

How big a challenge is it to get kids to set aside old rivalries and work together? Seems like some bitter rivalries down there.

Did an OSU football player sleep with your wife or something?

Yes. Jerell White of LaSalle said Tuberville didn't recruit him outside of a hallow offer.

out recruiting ND would be like out recruiting osu. its not uc's niche or where they should focus.

OUT recruiting. Sure. But keeping a couple home? Doable, no?

If the kid's local I think the coaches should do due diligence of a full on attempt. That's not just respect, it's the only way to even hope for change. I understand ND's academic rep but at the undergrad level, Cinci can provide equitable education just fine, particularly for a time limited football player. There's the advantage of staying closer to family. Better nightlife. Cinci is not ever going to match the mystique of ND but a player might at least get to experience winning a few games.

What's the issue? You're taking his quote completely out of context. There isn't a major college football program in the country who doesn't have multiple kids on their roster that have had similar issues. Do you think Clemson and Alabama are full of a bunch of choir boys?

247 4-star RB Michael Warren out of Toledo is officially visiting UC this weekend. He's rated the #204 prospect nationally.

Warren I believe already has the offer in hand. It's whether he'll retain his commitment to Toledo. If he opens up recruitment, he may as well open it way up, which might put him out of Cinci's reach also.

Why would a current Toledo commit be "out of UC's reach?"

If that were all to the story, he wouldn't be of course. He's a Toledo commit because it's hometown. Well, he was "Mr. Football" and Cinci had not shown interest (to my knowledge). Kind of shows how little interest he had obtained. But the story has changed a bit recently. It's his recent performance in a National All-Star game, which might have put him out the reach, if he opens up recruitment.

Being a Toledo fan, both High School and University, I'm glad but also anxious that he's testing waters. It's important that he be sure he's where he wants to be. Hopefully that is still hometown but be it Cinci or anywhere else, I'd still root for his best.
