1st rd pick CB Jackson has a torn pectoral; while he wasn't going to start, it does hurt his development.

NFL.com "Jackson could miss three to four months"

Terrible news for that young man. Only positive is he wasn't being counted on to fill a need right away. Let's hope it doesn't hinder his development.

He would have gotten plenty of time out there this year and would have been fighting for a starting spot by the end of the year IMO.

Went down to the practice today, it was a fun time. McCarron completed like a 40 yard TD pass to Boyd in the corner of the end zone that was pretty. Also saw Katherine Webb, tried snapping a pic of her and PM'ing it to PBoy but I was too slow.

The first scrimmage was a ho hum affair; not enough time having the 1's play against each other to learn anything about the team as a whole.
However:
Eifert hopefully won't miss much time as Uzomah does not look ready
Fisher & Ogbuehi looked ok at RT & LT; but defensive line stunts caused the OL trouble.
On defense, Vigil looked decent, as well as the young DT's; ;[Billings hurting his knee last wed is a blow]
Erickson making the squad at punt returner?

I thought the 1s looked pretty good. McCaron could start for about 8-10 teams easily.

If the Bengals stay healthy, they will be playing for a Super Bowl. No idea who will come out of the AFC. It won't be anyone from the East. I want to say the Cards, but having an ancient Carson Palmer at QB makes me think twice. Seattle is on the decline, GB will be in the playoffs but choke. Maybe Carolina, but history has shown SB losers tend to take a step back the following season.

That Marvin Jones on Detroit had a nice first series 3/56, great catch down the sideline.

Jake Fisher carted off[right achilles ] down to our 3rd string RT

Weidenaar didn't look bad at RT.

I read Marvin said sprained ankle not Achilles for Fisher.

Unfortunately two have been season ending (Jackson and Billings).

But it seems like that damn injury bug wont go away these first few weeks. I hope Ogbuehi can get that health back as soon as possible. Keeping Winston is looking like a good idea right now with Ogbuehi and Fisher battling injuries right now.

All you have to do is watch Kirkpatrick for a play or two and you will find new hatred.. If anyone can fulfill the Tate hate it is him.

ST coach Simmons loved Tate and said it was very difficult to let him go. I have a feeling he knows more about how valuable Tate was to the team than Jubbs.

I am sure that it is tough to let anyone go after being with them for 5 years. Granted, with all the hate, Tate did take care of the ball. You could count on him to catch and hold onto it. But paying a guy to waive at a football 4-5 times a game and providing little to no help on the offensive side of the ball is a waste of a roster spot IMO.

Yeah, I can't believe the coaching staff didn't dump all over a guy who was here for 5 years after releasing him

He was an awful punt returner which was his main function for the team and we should all be thankful we don't have to see any more of them
