Honestly, they could trade Wheaton now and run with Coates and not miss much

IDK if Id go that far. I would be open to trading him though for a draft pick

Sounds like Green's deal is 4 years for $20M total:
4.75 million signing bonus
Year 1 1.25m
Year 2 5m
Year 3/4 4.5m

Seems like a great deal especially when comparing to Coby Fleener getting an absurd 36 million over 5 years from the Saints.

Could be the steal of the off-season right there

Weddle rumors are still floating around

Don't see that happening. I haven't seen any Steelers beat guys say much about it recently

Foster's deal is 3 years 9.6m. That puts his average cap hit in or near the top 15 for guards.

Foster's deal is $2.75M signing bonus with base salaries of $1.5M, $2.675M, $2.675M. That is a great deal value wise. Like DHB, Golden and William Gay, likely could've gotten a couple million more elsewhere. Guys are giving discounts in order to stay and play for the Steelers and get that next Super Bowl

with Green signing official, means they don't need to worry about TE in the draft.

can focus it all on defense.

still may need to sign a safety in FA, but no urgency to do so immediately.

looks like a decent draft for DB's which means they can build depth at that position through the draft as well as finding one that can hopefully start in week 1.

still need depth in the interior D line as well, along with OLB.

Was good to get someone to replace Miller, but the chemistry between ben and heath was just so solid and it will take time for it to come together and rather have him than drafting a guy.

Glad to see them address the issue quickly.

Coates might be in the mix sooner than we thought. If hes gone for the year do you think the Steelers will just release him? Is that even permitted under the collective bargaining? Just wondering.

I think its permitted but they won't do it. I would certainly give Wheaton the extension and then let Bryant walk after his contract ends. This year won't count as a year off of his contract I don't think. Its extremely stupid to let this happen again but its just as absurd that this is still a rule in 2016. Now we know why they signed DHB so quickly

Dumb rules. Dumb player. I can't see the Steelers wasting their time with him after this season. Definitely cost himself a huge contract.

I read that they might keep because his salary isn't that expensive. Dumb and cheap.

Apparently he is fighting depression that is causing the issues. Doesn't excuse the mistakes and not getting help, but depression is not something that goes away. If he really has it, he needs to get help. I have friends who have battled it and have had many problems come from it. Money and fame don't just help it go away. Needs to set himself straight and get a good support system around him. Surprisingly the issue seems to be with his group of "friends" in Pittsburgh rather than the people he is around in the offseason outside of pittsburgh

Money and fame can definitely make it worse, especially if you feel like the people around you aren't real friends.

Agreed. I hope he gets the help he clearly needs. I don't think this is a weed problem or a being stupid and young problem. I think he needs some real help. If he is suspended this full year, he'll still be under Steelers control for 2 seasons meaning he and Coats would end their contracts at the same time. If they don't feel Bryant is in a good place, give it to Coats if he has played well. Im not even closed to worried about the offense this season though

IF in fact he gets a full year suspension:
Good grief, evidently, he failed multiple tests to get the full year instead of another 4 games.

Step 1 fine
Step 2 4 games; another violation, 4-6 games
Step 3 if it is marijuana, 10games; full year if it is not marijuana or he has multiple failed tests after step 2

BTW, his agent is pulling the depression angle in an effort to get the suspension reduced.

In other NFL news, Vontaze Burfict's agent is appealing to get his suspension reduced because he suffers from Xanthophobia

Apparently he didn't "fail" multiple drugs tests, but missed one or multiple. By rule a missed test is the same as a failed test. His agent could be using it to help or it could be a legitimate issue. Not something to joke about or doubt is true until proven otherise

Freaking idiot.
I wont be like some browns fans and blame the system instead of the player (Gordon).

No reason to get yourself jammed up in something like this and potentially ruin the season and your career.

Imagine the steelers will make up for it and get a replacement and Bey may have been signed for this reason.....it would be foolish to just ignore him getting suspended and not try to replace him, what ed franchise would so such a thing

According to the NFL; he got the indefinite suspension; will have to apply to be reinstated after a year.

Sportshomer was trying hard to rationalize it. He just "missed" one. Overslept probably,
