2018 Suburban League American

Thoughts on the 2018 season? Aurora repeats? Reigning state champion Tallmadge wins the league? Copley gets back on track? Highland breaks through?

Don't forget Kent Roosevelt. They finished above both Copley and Highland I believe and got the #1 seed in their district for post season.

IMO however, it's a two way race between Aurora and Tallmadge. Be interesting to see as Aurora loses two key players in Arslanian and Blue. Tallmadge returns 11 seniors and all but 1 (Taylor) from their starting lineup.

These two teams have several D1 commits already:

Aurora:
Fromwiller - Ohio University
Capretta - Kent St.

Tallmadge:
Seeker - Army
Gergely - Purdue
Burick - Wright St.
Boyd - Morehead St.
Glasser - Youngstown St.

And I'm sure several others will be committing in the next several months from these two solid programs.

Got to think Tallmadge has to be the early big favorite. So much talent returning, especially experienced pitching. Aurora has lost some key guys, but they always seem to find a way to reload. Highland also returns many starters, but much will depend on the health of their #1 pitcher, who tore his UCL last spring, and elected to forego Tommy John surgery. Kid pretty much was DH all summer long. Kent also was big surprise last year. They lost two big seniors, but return a solid nucleus. Copley really is a question mark. Think they return around 10 seniors, but pitching depth will ultimately be tested. Hayes dominate # 1, but after that, there is a pretty big drop off. Any one of 4-5 kids could end the # 2. Leaves Revere and Barberton to bring up the rear. I think both will be improved, but not enough to compete with the balance of the league on a consistent basis.
