With 3 games to go lets do some Harbin prognosticating
X is currently 12 seed with current Harbin average at 6.6
If X wins out at home: Clarkson North (100%), St. Ignatius (50%), LSX (75%)
X’s Harbin Average will be @20.0

ReLoad's Projection: if win out X will be a 6 seed.

3 GMC teams are likely ahead of them: Colerain, Fairfield, Mason.

Moeller is likely to lose out (Iggy, Eds and Winton Woods) and finish @20.0
Elder needs to win one more game to clear 20.0 and that is likely LaSalle

The other 6 teams currently ahead of X (6 through 11) current Harbin averages are between 6.7 and 11.4
Each have 2 tough games remaining (the 3rd game for each is likely a win)

Milford with Kings and Turpin
Lakota East with Colerain and Sycamore
West Hi with Taft and Little Miami
Oak Hills with Sycamore and Fairfield
Sycamore with Lakota East and Oak Hills
Lebanon with Miamisburg and Springboro

Those 6 teams are going to have a difficult time reaching 20.0

Offensively Hudepohl and Payne are coming off their best performances of the season. Against LaSalle Wyatt's QB rating was an astronomical 292.6 as he completed 9 of 12 passes for 193 yards with 3 TDs, Zero interceptions, no fumbles and 28 yards rushing. Chris rushed 13 times for 144 yards and 2 TDs.

Defensively 3 Bombers got their first significant playing time in the LaSalle game. Drew Klas (6 tackles, 4 solo) made his first start at free safety in place of Noah Stockman who was used strictly as a receiver on offense. TJ O'Malley (3 tackles, 2 solo) and Eddie Krumdieck (5 tackles, 1 solo) saw significant time at LB rotating with Raja Bridges and Noah Taylor.

Agree, strong run game really helped, Wyatt was a good game manager and didn't put the team in a bad spot. No TO's and showed much more toughness running the ball than previously. He isn't needed to win the game, just perform the distribution role and don't lose the game. If that occurs bright skies ahead.

The question is whether or not beating CN and L. St. X will be enough for the 8 seed.

Changes on the OLine have sacrificed size and experience but seemed to have increased in the toughness category.

Hudepohl reminds me of Tensing when he runs, long strides, deceptive speed and able to change direction quickly.

I think being a game manager is new to him as in the past he has been expected to be the playmaker and win games due to his talent.

His quote after the game in the Enquirer shows that he gets it....."We knew we had to make a big step and our OLine did a heck of a job. Our receivers caught balls, I threw the ball where it needed to be."

OK little black rain cloud.

I'll play.

If X loses to Iggy (God forbid) we lose 0.6 first level points and 3.37 second level points (around 4.0 points total) to only get to @16.0 instead of 20.0.

The 3.37 second level points from Iggy's 6 wins are based on my projection of Iggy to finish 6-4 (losses to X and Eds and win over Moeller).

So how many teams are likely to finish with 16.0 Harbin average?
Definitely Colerain, Fairfield, Mason, Moe and Elder

Of the 6 teams (Sycamore, Lakota East, Milford, West Hi, Lebanon and Oak Hills) besides X in the running for the final 3 spots here is how I see it.

In order to reach 16......
West Hi has to beat Taft and Little Miami....long shot
Sycamore has to win out (Lakota East, Oak Hill and Hamilton).....possibly
Lakota East has to beat Colerain and Sycamore.....haha
Milford has to beat either Kings or Turpin.......decent chance
Lebanon has to beat both Miamisburg and Springboro....highly unlikely
Oak Hills has to beat Sycamore and Fairfield......highly unlikely

So if X loses to Iggy I think X grabs the 8th spot behind Milford and Sycamore

Here is some key information of which you may not be aware regarding the Iggy game.

1. The October pink jerseys were burned last season and will not be making an appearance...ever
2. The friendly confines of Ballaban
3. StX grad and Coach Specht friend referee Bernie Bouchardís crew has the game
4. and most importantly weekend tailgating is strongly encouraged by the new administration

GO X!

Not a black rain cloud - just an interested realist.

Defensively X has increased the number of players in the rotation which currently stands at 15. Early in the season just about the same 11 were on the field an entire game and were getting gassed, most obvious in the Cathedral and Elder games. The fact that X has led at the half in all 7 games this year also points to a defense that has gotten worn down. An extra linemen, 3 more LBs and a safety has made a big difference. Look for X to keep Stockman on offense full time and help out on defense in certain situations. Klas will get the start with Hundley and Potts as he provided great run support and broke up several passes in coverage.

Offensively X made a concerted effort to get Payne outside by having Hudepohl effectively run the option down the line. Using Maier on the line as an extra blocker has proved effective

Steve Shuck confirms the genius of ReLoad

"St. Xavier (3-4) has nine consecutive postseason appearances -- the longest active streak among area large school programs -- but the Bombers have work to do to reach the playoffs again.

The Bombers' projected final number is 15.7, based upon projected wins over Clarkson North (Ontario) Friday night and against visiting Louisville St. Xavier Oct. 26. Shuck projected the Bombers to lose to visiting Cleveland St. Ignatius Oct. 20, but if St. X wins the numbers project to just below 20 and would qualify them in the Nos. 6-7 range.

Unless St. X defeats St. Ignatius, the Louisville St. Xavier result could be the determining factor. Second-level points must also be considered and the Sycamore at Lakota East Week 10 game could also impact St. X."

Another question may be do the Bombers purposefully lose the St. Ignatius game to grab the #8 seed so that they play Colerain in the first round since history shows that whoever loses the week 2 regular season game almost always wins the post-season rematch.

Another question. Did anyone else hear LaSalle fans grumble that they needed more scholarship players as they left Lancer stadium last Friday?

And another question could the cancellation of LaSalleís game this Friday due to the Florida hurricane cost StX enough L2 points to keep them from being the eighth seed should they lose to Iggy?

GO X!
Week 8 Good news
West Hi lost to Taft
Milford lost to Kings
LSX beat Male
Lakota West beat Princeton
Walnut Hills beat Loveland

Week 8 Bad news
LaSalle game with Broward cancelled
Lebanon beat Miamisburg

To max Harbin Average (23.9) StX needs to beat Iggy and LSX and need
St. Ignatius to beat Moeller and Edís
LSX to beat Butler
Walnut Hills to beat Anderson and Withrow
Lakota West to beat Middletown and Colerain
Clarkson North to beat Cheshire and Cathedral Prep
LaSalle to beat Trinity Catholic and Elder

Not happening: LW beating Colerain and WH beating Anderson (drops Harbin to 22.6)
Toss Up: LaSalle beating Elder and Ignatius beating Eds (21.3 Harbin)
No clue: Clarkson North two opponents (20.0)

If X finishes 5-5 Helps if
Milford lose to Turpin
West Hi lose to Little Miami
Lebanon lose to Springboro

The Week 10 game between Sycamore and Lakota East could be key, wonít know which team needs to win to get X 8th seed until Week 9 results in

If X beats LSX and loses to StI:
Lebanon beats Springboro 54% [ Stebbins is a W] Lebanon finishes ahead of X
LE & Sycamore play each other, one will finish higher than X
Milford beats West Cler 72%or Turpin 66% Milford finishes ahead of X
Elder beats Vianny 83% or LaSalle 67% Elder finishes ahead of X

Likely result, X finishes 9th, no playoffs.

It could. X won't get an addition 6.0 L2 points from LS winning that game, though it does drop X's L2 divisor by 1. Helps LS out in a big way for their push to the playoffs.

Thanks for the numbers Termite
Specht was right when he told the team the playoffs start tonight just before they ran out onto Lancer Stadium turf.

Thatís 2 weeks in a row I watched Payne run as though he was possessed
