Brecksville is the obvious favorite to repeat. They've won all but one in the last group of years as well. Elyria, which has been the most direct threat to Brecksville in recent year, is no longer at this tournament; they are at the Maumee Bay Classic.

Other notable teams:
Canfield, Olmsted Falls, Olentangy Liberty (if they are actually attending - I've heard they aren't though Track has them listed), and Rootstown. Many other teams have solid individual contributors though.

Wrestlers to watch --
**I'm excluding Olentangy Liberty kids for now b/c I'm not sure about their attendance

106: Woods (West Holmes), Shaw (Olmsted Falls), Stanley (Brecksville), Mayes (Jefferson), Fletcher (Canfield), Yarbrough (Copley)

113: Wayt (West Branch), Perelka (Brecksville), Butler (Copley), Neff (Streetsboro), Edwards (Rootstown)

120: J. Tagg (Brecksville), L. Heil (Brunswick), Carone (Streetsboro), Oviedo (Perrysburg), Wiseman (Stow), Muzykowski (Licking Valley), Kaufman (West Holmes), White (Manchester), Anderson (Midview)
note 2016 Zeman (Avon) did not compete this past weekend

126: Fogle (Licking Valley), Massey (Woodridge), Carmany (Brecksville), Larue (Manchester), D. Fields (Brunswick), Bartinelli (Buckeye), Hewitt (Hoban), Bailey (Green), Walczak (Perrysburg)

132: G. Tagg (Brecksville), M. Fields (Brunswick), Chilson (Rootstown), Baitt (Jefferson), Brichford (Madison), Graber (Green), Kiss (Norton), Reeves (Woodridge)
note Rowan (Firestone) I haven't seen in results yet this year

138: Regalbuto (Brecksville), Salti (Olmsted Falls), Clark (Buckeye), Dodson (Licking Valley), Kaminski (Green), Duvall (Rootstown)

145: Voinovich (Brecksville), Kissell (Garrettsville Garfield), Jaeckin (Olmsted Falls), Baker (Norton), Khalifani (Copley)

152: Miller (West Branch), Yoho (Woodridge), N. Barnett (Sheridan), Finney (Garrettsville Garfield), Anderson (Streetsboro)
*Barnett might actually be at 145

160: Kelley (Hoban), Munyan (Sheridan), Vanadia (Brecksville), Farian (Revere), Anderson (Rootstown)

170: D'Alesio (Canfield), Hatcher (Brecksville), Carey (Streetsboro), Robinson (Woodridge), Rogan (Akron Springfield)

182: Marcelli (M. Jackson) D. Crawford (Canfield), Wokojance (Barberton), Langguth (Rootstown), Begin (Midview), Mendeluk (Olmsted Falls), Neece (Sheridan), Williams (Norton), Baldridge (West Holmes)

195: Loughman (Sheridan), N. Crawford (Canfield), Frambach (Midview), Greer (Avon), Jaeckin (Olmsted Falls), Marra (West Branch)

220: Skye (Mogadore), Boyle (Rootstown), Stein (Canfield), Roesch (Avon), D'Anna (Brecksville), Snider (Midview), Hornacek (Norton)

285: Kapalko (Canfield), Bucknavich (Midview), Gaillen (Copley), Puchajda (Cuyahoga Falls), Franks (Tallmadge), Hindley (Woodridge)

182 looks like a decent weight class with Marcelli as favorite.

$9/session? This is ridiculous! Pricing families right out of supporting their kids and the sport. Go anyway and do the math for a family of 4 trying to support family member number 5, little Timmy.

2 adults and 2 students = $90

4 Adults = $100

4 Seniors/Students = $80

Add food and drink and you spent over a $100 to support little Timmy.

I agree its a little pricey.

I looked up a few and a few are from what I attended.

Medina was $10. Kenston $10. GIT was $8. Suburban League was $8 or $9. Brecksville was $10 I was told. (Did not attend)

Sorry folks... $9 is actually fair when comparing tournaments of similar size.

Maybe the cost is pricing little Timmy and his family iyt of wrestling. Timmy's family can afford basketball. Timmy was a good 106. Now Timmy's team has no 106.

Anyone if Buchtel will be here? They have Bill Dies listed on their schedule on Track, but aren't listed amongst the teams.

I'm thinking that wrestling is about the least expensive sport there is, when the cost of participation plus the cost of attendance is added together.

HS "dual" contests have prices controlled by OHSAA, and I suspect they are the same as dual contests ("games") in other HS sports. Tourneys provide more "entertainment" and hence cost more. I suspect the same holds true for large / multi-session swim meets or track meets.

Participation requires a headgear and shoes, which is MUCH less than just about any other sport.

For every camp or clinic that someone will say is required, I can guarantee there are analogous training "requirements" in other sports.

Wanna play in the band instead? A decent instrument is hundreds of dollars, and private lessons have gotta be through-the-roof expensive.

If someone is being priced out of wrestling, then they are being priced out of every other sport / extra-curricular as well.

The thought to move to this price was that we wanted to stay in line with the other tournaments.

Since I follow the big guys I will say Stein pins his way to a championship at 220 vs DeAnna

Kapalko and Morocco in the finals at 285.

BTW $120 a pair of shoes for my kid in 2002 and four (4) pairs was expensive to me. $1,395 for two style at Fargo was cheap. Thank the lord he went to college and wrestled!! That doesn't include the little brother.

You could be right. Skye #2 ranked D3 should meet # 2 D2 ranked Stein in the semi's.
