OAC to Host Inaugural Girls State Tournament

OAC is hosting its Inaugural Girls State Tournament this February. I am asking Youth and Middle School coaches to please share the word with your girl wrestlers. It is a great opportunity to continue to grow the sport.

Girls Junior High School & Grade School State Wrestling Championships

Date: February 11, 2018

Location: Harrison High School 9860 West Rd. Harrison OH

Tournament Director: Chris Baird (chris.baird@southwestschools.org )

No walk-in registration is accepted

Registration Closes at 10pm February 9, 2018

Weigh-Ins

*Weigh In will be conducted in Singlets only. No weight allowance for clothing.

Only one Weigh In required. Bring copy of Birth Certificate. It will be returned.

Saturday February 10, 2018 Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm (all weights) or;

Sunday February 11, 2018 Time: 7:00am-8:00am (All Weights)

Wrestling Start Time- 9:30am

DIVISIONS & WEIGHT CLASSES

9u (Birth Year 2008 and later)

43, 50, 57, 65, 73, 85, 100, 120, 120+

12u (Birth Year 2005, 2006 & 2007; No 7th or 8th Graders)

58, 65, 73, 82, 91, 100, 110, 120, 135, 135+

Junior High (7th & 8th Grade)

75, 82, 90, 98, 106, 115, 123, 132, 145, 155, 175, 175+

All experience levels should register and compete! Don't count your athlete out even if they are brand-new to the sport. Also any girls that do MMA or jujitsu I would encourage them to register and give it a try, they will pick it up quickly.

Why is this not centralized? Wouldn't you want something like this in the central part of the state?

You must truly not be familiar with OAC. Their grade school & junior high tournaments are held in Youngstown every year. Centralization is definitely not the primary concern.

And boy would I love it if they centralized those two as well.

Harrison has been a huge supporter of the girls movement in Ohio and I believe volunteered to host. Kudos to them for taking on a lot of work to allow this to happen.
