Here's the old Kennard thread. Some classic posts in this one.

As far as the impact it will have on the team, I think it'll be minimal, given how poorly Allen has played this year.
Yes.

Cool to see Kennard and Bibbs being the leading scorers for VT and Duke. Two Dayton area natives.

Not cool seeing that awful, awful performance. I expect Duke to get much better as the season goes on, but today is definitely a red flag.

Yeah, but Duke got run off the court today. It wasn't even a game after the 5 minute mark in the 1st half.

Watching it reminded me - as if I needed a reminder - how important experience is in the making of a team. Without it, talent means squat.

I glanced at the stats after the game. I believe the Hokies starting five were all in double figures. Not surprising considering the number of layups they had.

Bright spot: Giles had eight boards in thirteen minutes. It'll get better, but the Dookies have a lot of ground to make up. Glad I have Buckeyes to root for, too! :}

Coach K taking an extended leave because of back surgery. I'm really fascinated to see if Duke turns this around or if they have a weird season that just goes off the rails. Something is way off

I thought this team was a slam dunk for the FF but now they're in total disarray. It kills me because this team has so much talent, more talent than any team they've had since 2001, but K is a rock. I'm not sure how Giles and Bolden get acclimated or if Allen can even return.

K will be there Wednesday night when Duke plays Ga Tech who beat Carolina. I hope we see some D and better O. (Jones and Jackson had poor games vs. Va Tech, I believe. At least, the Blue Devils will be led by Capel, an experienced coach, while K is out.

Well, no matter what happens, I think we can say confidently that they will not be duped like the women's team was:

The VT game was as bad a Defensive game as I've seen from Duke. They flat out got their azz kicked the entire game.

Looks like Allen is back, really not happy about that. IMO, it should have been 3 games.

Probably would have been more games, but Duke got pounded last week. Which is why it's a bad idea for Coach K to dole out the punishment. This should be an athletic department/ university/ ACC issue. Much like the Joe Mixen situation at Oklahoma, coaches are paid to win. When you make coaches discipline players who help them win, you never get a good outcome.

It does make Coach K look bad. It's hard to root for this Duke team bc I dislike Allen so much. However, I root for a team not a player. And last night showed how good this team can be. GT just beat UNC at UNC and Duke beat them by 50 points. Duke would have won this game if they didn't score at all in the 2nd half.

As much as I hate to say it, I think Coach K is "feeling his power". I don't know what discussion he may have had with the AD/University/ACC, but one or more of those groups shirked their duties, imvho.

Shocking win considering last weekends' Duke and UNC games. And, if I recall NC State beat Va Tech 104-78, too. Gonna be one of those years, eh...

Down 41-37 at half on the road v FSU. Jefferson being out really hurting Duke as FSU has a ton of depth in their Front Court.

Yikes. Not a good 2nd Half by Duke. Sloppy play all night added to the fact FSU is pretty damn good team and that's what happens. I'm still waiting for Giles and especially Bolden to step forward. Both got absolutely obliterated by FSU's Front Court, including the jacked dude who looks like a slightly less muscular Michael Clarke Duncan.

Can't get too discouraged about Bolden and especially Giles, Pboy. As long as Duke stays healthy they'll be fine come March. FSU is a tourny team.

I wouldn't expect much from Bolden this year if I was a Duke fan. He should barely play if everyone is healthy in March

Ouch. Allen shoving an FSU coach after he jumps into their bench to save a ball. Does he not realize games are being televised?

The ACC is so brutal. Bolden really needs an additional year. Next year Giles and Jefferson will both be gone and he'll have a chance to hone is game bc right now he looks lost.

About every other year, Duke needs to recruit an extra Jefferson-like center, imvho. But, I'm not the coach and no one can doubt K's success.

Wow, what a tale of two halves. The first half was absolutely pitiful, especially on Defense. However, the 2nd half was far and away the best they've played all year. It was really, really good to see Bolden breakout. Giles still plays too soft and needs to pick it up. I know the injuries hampered early, but he's been playing for nearly a month.
