Second time going to Hamburger Joe's. First time was in North Myrtle Beach. Second time was in Surfside Beach (25 minutes south of the first one). The food just wasn't as good even though they were the same chain. The one in North Myrtle Beach had a long wait and tons of people there, walked right in at the Surfside Beach location. Not sure why but the Surfside Beach location just isn't as good.
I find it odd you're on a trip (basically a vacation with some baseball thrown in) and you decide to go to a chain restaurant twice.

Two different sets of relatives from the Carolinas visited and it was the place they both wanted to go. Wasn't real excited going the second time but the second set of relatives had a big family and short time to eat dinner. It was close by and where their kids were looking forward to eating.

Tonight is supposed to be Golden Corral with the team. Definitely looking at different options.

That makes more sense. That definitely limits your options on where you can go.

Good choice on looking at different options. GC is probably easy for a team with family but damn you can go anywhere and get that. I always try to grab a local eatery whenever I'm in a new city.

That's what you do on those trips, eat at chain restaurants and buffets. The kids want to be with their friends, it's impossible to organize everyone around the trendy independent places, and parents are trying to minimize cost too.

Some of my favorite memories as a child are eating out with the whole baseball team at some random chain restaurant while on a trip

Chicago Gyros in Clifton, again - 3/8. Chicken gyro is not very good. Also did not help that a homeless guy out front hit me up for exactly $5.25 so he could "change his tire."

There are two restaurants that my 24-year old son can't stand...Golden Corral and Chick-Fil-A.

I love Chik-Fil-A. I go to the one in Florence and have never had bad service or bad food.

Deweys Pizza- 6/8

Very good pizza. I actually prefer Dayton Pizza over Cincy Pizza. For example Marions and Milanos are my top dogs. Deweys is legit though.

Marions and Chick Fil A are fantastic.

I hope the people of Oakley get the damn stick out of their azzes and allow Chick Fil A to open up in Oakley Station. Like a drive thru in Oakley Station is going to cause bad traffic.

Marion's knows how to get you too. They make the pieces bite size so that even when you're full, you keep on chowing down. Then next thing you know, you have to order a new pizza because it's gone.

Carl's Deli 7/8. I go there probably 3 times a week as I live right down the street. Really good food for a solid price. I don't often stray from my usual though

They are one of the best for "Police Blotter" entries in the local paper. If you want to get in a throw-down with the extended family, GC seems to be a prime place for it. I wonder why ?

Because it's cheap and a lot of poor, undesirable people enjoy eating there.

As far as fast-food roast beef sandwiches, this^ place's sandwich meat was far superior to the "beef loaf" Arby's slices up. Gone, like Red Barn and Kenny King's

Probably true, although in the maybe half dozen times I've eaten there on travel team road trips, I haven't noticed this to be the case.
