Regardless of Poullas/Lawson, there will be hours upon hours of real good wrestling. Dies is a terrific tournament.

Link on Track Wrestling - http://www.trackwrestling.com/predef...amentId=354107

4:30 PM Friday
9:30 AM Saturday (quarters/semis), 6:00 PM Saturday (finals)

Anchoring the field are nationally ranked teams in Olentangy Liberty, Elyria (defending champs), and Brecksville). Doubt we get 100% of OL's state series lineup, probably something like last year (that's a GUESS, not a confirmation). Other notable teams include Brunswick, Canfield, Olmsted Falls, and Rootstown - plus more.

In the next post will be a list of kids to watch in each weight class as per the list of teams on Track Wrestling

Parking, Etc

Some info for teams arriving, fans, and parking:

*Due to Firestone having classes until 3:30 we are asking teams to enter the building at door 15 which is on the west side of the new building.
*Drive to the same address as past years, 333 Rampart, and walk down the sidewalk to door 15.
*Cars and especially buses will then go to the parking lot at the church, 1670 Shatto.
*There will be a shuttle running the entire tournament.
*At 4 pm the front doors will be used for entrance.
*Carpool--Parking less than optimal.

Thank you for everyone's interest in the Bill Dies! We are very excited about this year's tournament - the 30th! We are also excited about the new gym in the new Firestone High School CLC. We have obviously never run a tournament in this new gym and expect some bumps along the way. Should we have any, we will work through any hiccups and fix them as fast as we can - most of the time fans, wrestlers and coaches will have no idea.

One thing that we ask from the coaches, wrestlers and fans...please be patient. Again, this is new to all of us. We don't expect any problems with the "wrestling" part of the tournament but there will be some new "logistics" that we will work through - seating, no food in the gym, etc.

Follow us on Twitter - @billdiesmwt - as we will be doing our best to update throughout the weekend. We will be using #TheDies!

Thank you for your support of the tournament over the last 30 years. We know that we could not do this without the great fans, coaches, and student-athletes that we have every year.

We look forward to seeing you all this weekend!

We will still be able to have 6 mats in the big gym. The "ACT" gym has been renovated and will be used as well in which we will have 4 mats on Friday.

Awesome. Elyria is looking forward to seeing/using your new facilities. I'm sure the Akron community is very proud

Ever since my first time wrestling in this tournament in 2014, I've always looked forward to this tournament.

Imma let a little biasness out here, I'm really pulling for McDaniel at 195. That kid is amazing on the mat and I lost a 3-2 heart breaker to him as a senior in 2015, and that match still haunts me to this day along with many others (I had that freaking reversal).

Biasness aside, this is going to be an outstanding tournament and we will have so many great matches. Can anything pass up Lasko vs Workman from a few years back? Well see.

Good luck to all competitors and good health to all.

Going to miss the old gym...one of the finest in the Akron area. Especially set up well for wrestling. 3 mats on the floor for the finals.

Don't worry, we will still have 3 mats for the finals!

Also, tune in to 1590 WAKR (wakr.net) tomorrow (Thursday) at 3:35 as Steve Dies will be joining the Sam & Brad Show to talk about the tournament.

Seats upper level, bleachers lower level, but not sure how many of those will be pulled out for seating due to mats.

There was seating lost in the upper level so we will use one side of the lower level bleachers both days.

Entries available on Track Wrestling for the public to see

Poullas is not wrestling for Canfield
Kiussis is down at 160
Elyria w/o Brady and Price at 160/170, yet again
Olentangy Liberty w/o Mead and Fitzpatrick, as well as Grenier (though Carson K. at 145 kind of covers it, they'll have to make a decision if/when Grenier returns on how the lineup works)
Sorboro down at 152 (I'm not sure this is the most prudent move for the end game)

You guys always do a great job at Firestone for this and Districts. Just going to miss the old gym and feel of that place.

Hope you get another great turnout for this year!

This is a great tournament. This year seems kind of weak. I see a bunch of wrestlers are out from Canfield, liberty and Elyria to name a few. Alot of matches I was looking forward are not going too happen. The tourament is one of the best ran around.
