Now you should be able to get into any game the entire weekend for $10 or less....face value should get you on the floor. If you're willing to sit in the 300's, you can probably get to all 12 games for $50 (game 12 will be a freebie)
If you "knew why," why then the 100+ word diatribe about all you know about tickets for the tourney?
I'll break this down for you, slowly....some of this you'll know, as a long timer. But, much of this is news to the newbs.
Coaches/AD's/Principals/Superintendent's most often don't pay a dime for their tickets. So, they MANY times dump any extras for less than face. It's simply beer money for the weekend, and they can be done "scalping" tout de suite, and back to the suds.
There's "no profit for the ticket brokers any more." Now just think about THAT MORONIC statement for a nano second. IF THAT were even remotely true, why then do you see the same (aging) faces holding tickets year after year after year after year?
Good lowers will continue to fetch $20/ticket for the majority of this year's games, just as they have all along at the Schott. Actually, this IS down from the early years there, when the "new" was still factor, and folks wanted to get inside the Taj Mahal. Attendance is down, across the board, for high school athletics. Why then shouldn't the State tourney reflect this?
I saw, like you, great tickets go for HUGE coin in the days of St. John. I miss that place from a history standpoint, and for other reasons.
And finally, while I won't debate your thoughts about "doing it on the cheap." I'm sure that we both/all know somebody that will CLAIM to have done this, but I can guarandamntee you that it's far less frequent than they'd have you believe. I will share that most folks will NOT wait it out. As the supply dwindles, people will buy......and sitting up with the pigeons, no, wait, that was 14B in St. John
will grow old by midday on Friday. At least now, you don't have to climb those damn stairs!!!!
This story, for a high school kid, is actually likely, sans the "fact" that he'll boast about being half court dead center for every game. If you hear this from a couple of clowns at the Varsity Club, it's the draft beer talking.
