Thanks. In any event, it's pretty clear the players association would cite increased exposure to concussion risks if the NFL sought to add additional games (and rightly so). They are already in discussion to reduce the preseason to 3 games and add a bye week and have pushed for a reduction of contact during practice weeks. Obviously the orginal schedule wasn't set for concussions, but for recovery from the beating from the game which included concussions and head blows. It's pretty dumb to suggest it was for fatigue and bumps and bruises. Football is a more dangerous sport than the others and its schedule reflects it.

NFL doesnt hit in practice much. Many colleges are going that route.
Also, i know even our HS team doesnt hit much in season to stay fresh. I think this all helps as well.

I was sitting in history class two weeks after surgery... Had about 35-40 stitches... Kid sitting behind me goes "your head is leaking."
Went to doctor. They added a couple stitches to the incision and sent me on my way.
Your body actually reproduces all the CSF in your body 3-4 times per day. It's a balancing act. Too much and it'll increase pressure in your head to the point it starts crushing your brain, too little and your brain starts banging up against your skull.

You had to cut and paste to edit a quote out of context to try to win an Internet discussion? That's pretty pathetic.

I'd say there are the same amount of concussions now as there were in the early 70s when I played but they were not reported back then. The player was knocked out to be reported then. Now almost all of them are reported.
I had 2-3 playing football, my daughter had 3 playing soccer and they were a lot worse then I had in football.

agree, maybe even more back then.
I know I had a few.......went back in as soon as i could. One time at a JV game, as a frosh, the coach said 'you know, you are the only QB we brought this morning..."

What?
If I had quoted you from another thread about some other topic, then yes, that would be "out of context." But I quoted you from two consecutive sentences, in the same paragraph, in this thread. So no, it's not out of context. It is exactly on point.
You are entitled to your opinion, but when you don't know what you are talking about it doesn't count for much.

You took two sentence fragments and spliced them together to imply I said something I didn't say, of course that's out of context. Why else would you leave out the rest of the first sentence? It's a pathetic cowards tactic. So no surprise you did it.

It can sometimes be better than a simple critical cartography student claiming victory in a climate change discussion....

Hear that New York State politicians are trying to pass a bill to stop any tackle football before the age of fourteen. I doubt it will go far but with the liberal politicians that think they are the only ones with the right answers and if we do not agree they will just pas a law to force us to their way of thinking. Like limiting the amount of pop ( called soda in the east) you can drink and buy.

I saw former Titan TE Frank Wycheck is sure he has CTE. He estimated he's had over 250,000 collisions on the field since he started playing at age 5.

Your approval means less than nothing, but thanks, I guess. I entertained myself, and that's the main reason why I'm here.
When I read your "...claim victory on the Internet.", and I'm on Yappi, I can't help but think of Crusaders. It was a better 'saders reference than the trite "GameStop" abuse.

Isn't it funny that we'll make laws that may protect 2% of the population, when we have speed limits of 70-75 that we KNOW will result in hundreds of lives ended annually??
Will the concussion/ safety freaks just please go away. No kid is required to play football, please just take your kid and go play golf if you don't want any injuries.
Football equipment, including helmets, and medical treatments are the best they've ever been in history. Your kid could never be safer playing football than they are today.

I am so glad that I played football in high school and a short time in college. The fact that I got my bell rung is now my excuse as I grow old if I cant remember or miss remember all I say is "It must have be from the football."

Yeah, I had a good experience playing football as well, made many lifelong friends. I have a feeling my sons, who also played (one still plays), might feel the same way. Obviously it isn't the only way to connect with others and it shouldn't make someone unwilling to acknowledge the risks associated with the sport.

Yeah, you did.
His comment was meant to demean and ridicule me as someone who didn't play football and was relegated to the band. I just informed him it wasn't the case.

Ha ha! The next question is for those who didn't play football and still forget things? What's the excuse?? Such a silly debate.
The REAL reason this is even a topic??? M-O-N-E-Y....The NFL has alot of money, they have retired players who didn't make much money back in the 60's/ 70's getting a payday, so everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon.

Changing rules of youth football to make it safer is about a payday for guys in the 60s and 70s? How so?
